  1. The headline gracenote figures are out. Don’t think they can be drilled down unless you’re a subscriber. https://www.gracenote.com/virtual-medal-table/
  2. I definitely feel sorry for the swimmers but other nations have had to cut their numbers so it would set a terrible precedent if they allowed the Polish team to bring whoever they wanted I posted earlier that Ireland very nearly made the same mistake. We're using a backstroke sprinter and a breast stroker to fill out our 4x200m freestyle team as we could only use 2 relay only spots and none of our freestylers got an invite
  3. Funny seeing Equiratings give Sam Watson, one of the founders of equiratngs, the best chance of an Irish medal
  4. Love this pic posted by taekwondo hopeful Jack Woolley from Ireland if you click in you’ll see a great slow mo video too http://www.instagram.com/p/CRi7bQ9hR45/?utm_medium=copy_link
  5. The app allows sorting by NOC but so far it only has the team events in. Hopefully it includes heats etc as draws are made
  6. It’s not just the big team sports. For example in equestrian events Ireland’s alternates are included. As are our relay running alternates
  7. Despite what some in the media would have you believe, it seems the athletes are all enjoying the village. I follow a lot of Irish athletes on instagram and they're all posting pictures of how happy and proud they are to be there.
  8. has gone with a pair of boxers Kellie Harrington & Brendan Irvine One from Dublin, one from Belfast 3rd summer games in a row where the Irish flag bearers have been boxers 8th time in total for boxing
  9. Suppose we shouldn't be too hard. It's just fluff content. As soon as draws are done nearly all the one v one sports will be impossible
  10. 6 for Ireland may be optimistic but I'm still reeling from them having Tomassone of France ahead of McClenaghan in pommel
  11. I hope Duplantis enjoys his tainted gold
  12. Athletes born in Ireland but competed for other nations. A run down https://www.balls.ie/olympics/irish-born-athletes-tokyo-473586
  13. I’ve never seen anybody not want an Olympics as much as you don’t want one orangehair
  14. WVA for road race and ITT in Tokyo? Wow
  15. No, they wouldn’t normally show underage meets Didn’t even show the senior world championships a few years ago (but do show european indoor/outdoor where we may medal…)
  16. After day 3 lead the medal table 16 year old Nick Griggs looks a really exciting talent
  17. Indeed. Slowing down at the end and still ran an Irish senior record
  18. You need to chill out. Why are you so angry all the time? Adeleke’s best compares well with the winners of that competition. Maybe she’d win, maybe she wouldn’t have. I’d be confident she’d compete and beat those girls its fine if you disagree but you asking everybody who disagrees with you have they ever watched sport is getting tiresome
  19. Ireland will hope to draft in Adeleke for the final too
  20. But it’s not special treatment from the IOC really. If someone is a citizen of, say, Brazil or Netherlands or Malta or whoever they can represent them That’s how it works for Ireland and GB. The people of Northern Ireland are entitled to citizenship of both and that’s that really. It’s nothing new
  21. She won gold at under 18 level in the 200m. She *should* repeat in that here in Tallinn. She probably would have won the under 23s if she was allowed enter I hope she lowers her won senior record too
  22. The "zip it" gesture was a little too Lance-like for me
  23. They started with 5 thanks to the inclusion of the token Israeli rider, Greipel and Froome. Dan Martin was clearly too tired after the Giro. At least Woods gave it a go
  24. They weren't the "worse team". They deservedly beat Germany, just like the have the other 2 times they've played them this year in competitive games In fact The Netherlands have won every international trophy they've competed in for the last 10 years except for when England/GB have beaten them on penalties and 2 defeats to Argentina in Argentina. So yeah, it's safe to say they're far superior
