  1. I think after today's last throw he thought that he had done it. It is like there is an invisible force on the 90 m line which always pulls his Javelin before the mark
  2. I think in terms of popularity, field hockey is very popular. It is competitive as well (not like basketball). Why would you want it dropped?
  3. I love how symmetric Iran's overall medall tally is and also across sports it is symmetric
  4. 1. Rate the performance on a scale of 1-10 - A solid 4. I would say. Extremely disappointing but as we got 6 medals so I would give it a 4. 2. What were the suprises and heartbreaks ? - Medals by Hockey team and Aman in wrestling 57 kg were surprises. Hockey team was not in good form in the lead up to the Olympics but at the Olympics they raised their game. So close to the gold medal match. Aman was also not considered a good medal prospect due to his young age and poor defending skills. But he worked on both of them and improved a lot. Heartbreak were all the 4th place finishes. Along with that definitely Vinesh Phogat in wrestling, Satwiksairaj and Chirag in men's badminton. Vinesh's story needs no introduction I guess but for Sat-Chi it was not that they were outplayed by the opponents but they just crumbled under pressure very badly. Also I would say Reetika Hooda since she lost 1-1 on criteria when both the 1-1 points have been due to passivity warnings. Shows that the scoring of combat sports are still pretty erratic and does not always favour the best athlete. 3.Was your country's goal achieved? - Definitely not. We were hoping for 2 golds. 4. Which are the sports that will be invested more in future? Current / Upcoming sports - I think table tennis and hockey definitely. Both of these sports have shown such an improvement in the recent games. 5. Who could be some the potential star for your country in LA? - So many to name. Aman Sehrawat, Lakshya Sen, Reetika Hooda, Bhajan Kaur ...
  5. It was a loss just because of the stupid rules of wrestling. Great fight by Reetika
  6. First she has to get to the semifinals right? She has Aiperi Medet Kyzy in her way. If she reaches the semifinals she can go to the finals
  7. That is I think the highest scoring wrestling match I ever saw
  8. I hope we just carry forward this momentum in hockey. 2 medals back to back is a dream considering that I always wondered if I would get to see an Indian hockey olympic medal in my lifetime. I hope in LA we have a good mix of youth and experience to move forward from here.
  9. What happened to the North Korean quotas in 50 and 62? Did the athletes just disappear
  10. @MHSN what do you think about Yazdani Brooks final? If both make it
  11. Of course not. I had a glimmer of hope but Japanese in lower weight classes are a different beast 🥲
  12. Got it. But he is the Rio silver medalist and is the favourite for the gold. Hope Aman puts up a strong show.
  13. How did the Japanese fail the Asian Olympic qualifiers weigh in? Are you talking about 2020? Because this time Rei Higuchi qualified through the World Championships.
  14. I think that makes Aman favourite for Bronze even if he loses the semis
  15. Antim Panghal deported from France after she smuggled her sister into the Games' village. https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/wrestling-paris-2024-olympics-antim-panghal-sister-games-village-9501463/ Honestly with this level of discipline I do not see our athletes achieving anything. It is as if they are on a vacation. During my college days I was even scared to smuggle my friends into my hostel room overnight and here they are smuggling people into a high security zone like the Games village.
  16. I just wanted to raise a point here though. Why is it that always athletes are subjected to the highest standards but not officials. The most clear instance of official lapse that I ever observed at the Olympics was when in last Olympics hockey bronze medal match almost 30-40 seconds of play went on without the clock running towards the end of the match. I do not know what to call it but I was surprised that there was no serious coverage about it. I think India won in the end so everyone forgot about it. Other than that we know the lapses that always take place in boxing. It is as if the athletes are the ones who fight their asses off only to be subdued by elite people who sit on a chair and feel like they can do anything.
  17. Whoever is to blame should take up responsibility is what I am saying. Vinesh herself was very much aware of the weight increase but ultimately it lies with the medical team and the nutritionist to manage the weight. The coach and the athlete can only do so much.
  18. What is the use of then saying with a big announcement "that we will have a 13 member medical team." Did they just go to tour Paris and take photos with the Eiffel Tower?
  19. We cant manage the weight of an athlete. How will we manage the daily lives of 2-3 million people
  20. Even we are wondering lol . Our Olympic Association thought it was a good decision to say "no comments at this time" to keep the people calm
  21. Just shows lack of accountability which is the theme in India nowadays I feel. Anyone in power can get away with anything
  22. Everything is fine but I dont understand why IOA will say "no further comments at this time". A whole nation wants answers and you just cannot stay "no further comments at this time". We understand that we must respect Vinesh's privacy but the IOA should come out and let the people know what exactly happened.
  23. All the best to Antim tomorrow as well. She has a challenging but achievable route to the finals. Hope she makes it just like Vinesh. That would be epic.
