  3. I think she surprised everyone last year . I would like to surprise Munteanu and manage to make all apparatus because she is very talented
  4. Laura Jurca is 8 place at world championship in 2015 with 56.732 points , Larisa has only 55.698 in qualification . Romania will win the Test Event
  5. Romania will not depend on Catalina Ponor . Laura Jurca and Diana Bulimar are in good shapes but Uneven Bars is a weak apparatus for us , i think Romania win the quotas easily
  6. Romania still has other talented gymnasts and with enough technical potential to form a team of five that would put on a good fight: Catalina Ponor, Diana Bulimar, Laura Jurca, Andreea Iridon, Anamaria Ocolisan, Silvia Zarzu, Maria Holbura etc.
  7. Larisa Iordache injured Larisa Iordache fell off the beam during training and broke a finger. She now needs surgery and it was reported by TVR that the doctors have recommended six weeks of rest. Although this is not an injury that sounds serious or career-ending, it is a tough conclusion for the Romanian team. Romania finished 13th in qualifications at the 2015 Glasgow Worlds and missed on direct qualification to the Olympics. Last chance for the team to qualify will be mid-April when they will compete with Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Brazil, South Korea and Switzerland for the last 4 team spots. Larisa herself does not have a guaranteed spot at Rio either, so the team missing on qualification might also mean the end of Iordache’s 2016 Olympic dream. However, Larisa would have a strong case to get a wild card for Rio as a medalist in the all-around in Glasgow. There, all medalists in the apparatus finals obtained direct qualification. But the rules do not extend to the medalists from the all around final, a notable oversight from the FIG.
  8. Iolanda Balas Soter died on 11 march 2016 CAREER In 1953 she transferred from Timisoara club "Electrica" to CCA (CSA Steaua). After finishing fifth in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, she won two Olympic gold medals at Rome in 1960 and Tokyo in 1964. At the 1964 Olympics she competed with a torn tendon, which forced her later to withdraws from the 1966 European Championships. Nevertheless, between 1957 and 1966, Balaș won 150 consecutive competitions, not including qualifying competitions or exhibitions. She improved the world record 14 times, from 1.75 m to 1.91 m, and equalled it once outdoors and once indoors. She was the first woman to jump over six feet. Her technique was a sophisticated version of the scissors technique. Her record of 1.91 m, set in 1961, lasted until the end of 1971 (beaten by Ilona Gusenbauer from Austria), when jumpers with a more efficient technique (the straddle technique, and later the Fosbury style) took over. After retiring from competitions in 1967, Balaș married her former coach Ian Söter, and taught physical education in Bucharest. Between 1988 and 2005 she was president of the Romanian Athletics Federation.
