Laraja reacted to heywoodu in [OFF TOPIC] General Chat
Very much I believe we'll have SporTV so that should cover quite a lot already. The only cycling I really want to see during that time is the world championships, I'm sure it'll work with internet in case it's nowhere on TV. I believe ESPN shows NASCAR by the way, that'd be great too

So, seems that you love motor sports
There a few channel sports here, but most part of the time they streaming and talk about football. Formula One you can see in Globo, it's the biggest television company of Brazil. They also have three other sport channels: SporTV, SporTV2 and SporTV3(practice session and grid qualification are showed in those channels, sometimes even the races).
MotoGP and Stockcar Brasil is in Sportv channels, as well. The same for Athletics World Championship
Road Cycling is more difficult, there aren't too much broadcasting of this sport here. The channels of ESPN Brasil (ESPN Brasil, ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPN+) show some competitions such as Giro d' Italia, Tour de France and La Vuelta da Espanha. I remember that in Sportv Channels now and then they show World Championships of this Sport
So, that's it. I hope to have helped you

Laraja reacted to MHSN in Judo IJF World Championships 2019
I don't know if the athlete himself likes it or not, but Egypt don't have such policy. they fought against Israel before. even though for example one of them didn't shake hand !
Mollaei's SF will be before Muki, I can guess he will lose the SF, it will be risky to win and wait for the Egyptian to do something, his chance looks less than 10% to me. and Mollaei won't try for bronze too, he won't attend the medal ceremony with Israel being the gold medalist.
in situations like this I always stupidly hoped for a miraculous change of policy in the last minute but now I'm old enough to know it's not going to happen. I feel really sorry for Mollaei

Meanwhile, looks like Africa missed out on quotas in both K2 events and women's C2. Oceania missed out on men's C2 spot.

On the bright side, I think there could be arranged an awesome industrial concert with a band like Rammstein in many of the olympic venues.

For those not familiar with the competition system in swimming in place since the 2011 Games, the top 8 advance to "A" final, while the nest 2-8 swimmers compete in the "B" final.
The exception are the "distance" events, which are swam in heats, the "slower" one being swam at the end of the morning session, the "faster" at the finals session.

I knew that Angola is an expressive team in this sport, but not too able to beat Egypt(I hope so).
However, I expect that Egypt doesn't disappoint me as it did in football

Tunisia is the defending champions and on a good day I wouldn't be surprised if Algeria caused an upset, plus Angola's men are starting to take this more seriously. Definitely not an easy Egypt win.

Ana Marcela will participate in 800m and 1500m freestyle. I'm very surprised with that
I don't remember to watch her in a pool competition

Just like the FIFA ranking , when you win one weak match or event you will lose points

This makes me so happy! I fell in love with modern pentathlon because of Yane Marques, but I thought we would be done for after she retired... It looks like there's still hope for us after all! Amazing!

To fulfill the minimum requirements, riders need to score at least 66% in two different Grand Prix competitions. To keep its quota, Brazil needs three riders with minimum requirements.
Hopefully they will solve this somehow. At the very least, perhaps FEI will soften the requirements (or extend the qualification period).

In winter sports in general you will have less universality, since they are only practiced in a certain few countries. And while Women's ice hockey is mostly dominated by Canada and the USA, just this year Finland managed to get silver at the World Championships and only lost gold due to a controversial dicision. It is also growing with the World Championships being increased to 10 teams and the Olympics are talking about doing the same.
For skateboarding, while I don't know too much about the sport, I'm happy that it finally got added. Even if it's just for Tokyo. It has similairities with snowboarding in the Winter Olympics and I love watching those competitions, so I'm looking forward to it. Even if there is a huge problem in Switzerland with two associations fighting for being the official one.
