The 3x3 Federation Ranking List is calculated based on the federation points of each NOC. Each NOC’s ranking in the respective gender is the result of the sum of the ranking points of their top 25 national players with a confirmed play.fiba3x3.com account. In this context, each player ranking points is calculated based on the points collected considering only the results of the best nine FIBA-endorsed events on the last 12 months prior to 1 November 2023. The two or three (depending on the assignment of a host country place) highest ranked NOCs per gender on the 3x3 Federation Ranking List will each earn one quota place for their NOC to the Olympic Games Paris 2024. However not more than two (2) NOCs from the same continent (the 5 continents of the Olympic Movement being Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania) can earn a quota under this scenario. In the event of a tie in the 3x3 Federation Ranking List between two or more NOCs, the criteria to determine the team(s) earning a quota place for their NOC will be based on which NOC(s) has (have) the highest ranked player (with a confirmed play.fiba3x3.com account) in the given gender. This tie-breaker system will also apply to any situation under which a quota place is to be assigned under any of the scenarios explained further below in the qualification pathway. Eight (8) teams per gender are eligible to participate in the 2024 FIBA Universality-driven Olympic Qualifying Tournament 1 as per the following criteria and in the following order: 1. Only NOCs that have not been represented in 5v5 Basketball (irrespectively men or women) in the past two editions of the Olympic Games are eligible to participate in the 2024 FIBA Universality-driven Olympic Qualifying Tournament 1. NOCs which have qualified directly to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 in the respective gender through the 3x3 Federation Ranking List cannot compete at the 2024 FIBA Universality-driven Olympic Qualifying Tournament 1. If an invited NOC does not accept the invitation or for any other reason is unable to participate in the 2024 FIBA Universality-driven Olympic Qualifying Tournament 1, the next highest ranked and eligible NOC(s) in the 3x3 Federation Ranking List, not already qualified directly to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be invited to participate to the 2024 FIBA Universality-driven Olympic Qualifying Tournament 1, subject to the above-mentioned criteria. 16 teams per gender are eligible to participate in the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament as per the following criteria and in the following order: 1. The respective host NOC of the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, if not yet qualified to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and in case the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Host’s NOC has already qualified, the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Host may propose a replacement to FIBA; 2. In case any of the Host Nations (2024 Olympic Games Host, or OQS Event Host Nations, whichever the case may be) has qualified following the initial allocation of Quota described above in Sections A and B, then the host nation quota places in question will be reallocated to the next highest ranked NFs not yet qualified. Following Host Nations quota reallocation, in case any unallocated quota remains, the remaining quota will be offered to the next highest ranked nations not yet qualified until all quota is used, or the ranking is exhausted. If quota remains after the ranking is exhausted, then the unused quota will be offered (1 place each), in order, to the highest ranked nations already qualified until it is used. Following this, the maximum quota per nation could theoretically be 4 per gender. Note: in case three (3) athletes representing the same NOC participate in the Olympic Qualifier Series, only the two (2) highest ranked athletes (from the OQSFR) shall obtain a quota place in accordance with the maximum number of athletes per NOC. In this case, the quota place in question will be attributed to the next highest placed athlete (from the OQSFR) following this 3rd ranked athlete. The women’s and men’s competitions will each be comprised of exactly 60 athletes, 59 of them qualified through the Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR). The OGR is calculated as follows: each tournament earns a strength of field rating which determines how many ranking points will be awarded to top finishers. Points are awarded to athletes based on their finish positions in each event, with performances in stronger-field events earning more points in accordance with a points distribution schedule approved by the IGF. Ranking points for each player accumulate over a two-year “rolling” period with the points awarded in the most recent 13-week period weighted at 100% of their original value. After the initial 13-week period, the points are devalued by 1.1% for each of the next 91 weeks before they drop entirely off the athlete’s two-year record. Each athlete is then ranked according to his/her average number of points over the applicable two-year period, which is determined by dividing the total number of ranking points she/he has earned by the number of tournaments in which she/he has played during that period. There is a minimum divisor of 35 events for the women’s OGR over a two-year period. Whilst for the men’s OGR, there is a minimum divisor of 40 events and a maximum divisor of 52 events played over the rolling two-year period. OGR points to qualify for the Olympic Games, which are used to calculate the athlete’s average number of points and the athlete’s position on the OGR, can be earned during the two-year period ending with the Olympic Golf Ranking as of Monday 17 June 2024 for the men’s OGR and Monday 24 June 2024 for the women’s OGR. In the event of ties at any of the 60 starting positions, the ties will be broken by the following criteria, in order: Total Official World Golf Ranking points earned in the most recent 52-week period, ending with the OGR as of Monday 17 June 2024 for the men and Monday 24 June 2024 for the women. Total Official World Golf Ranking points earned in the most recent 13-week period, ending with the OGR as of Monday 17 June 2024 for the men and Monday 24 June 2024 for the women. Athletes will first be selected by name within the highest (top)-15 on the OGR as of 17 June 2024 for men and 24 June 2024 for women (following the conclusion of all eligible OGR events in the week immediately preceding), with no more than four (4) athletes per NOC. Athletes will then be selected by name in order from 16th place onwards on the OGR as of 17 June 2024 for men and 24 June 2024 for women (following the conclusion of all eligible OGR events in the week immediately preceding), up to a maximum of two (2) athletes per NOC, including those athletes within the highest (top)-15, until the number of 59 athletes is reached, including continental places. Each of the five (5) continents of the Olympic Movement will be guaranteed at least one (1) athlete in each of the women’s and men’s competitions respectively, if not automatically qualified in accordance with the above (continental places).
