Qualification Tracker

Test

  1. We have two new qualifiers on the women's side: Camilla Kemp and Anat Lelior. Nadia Erostarbe is now guaranteed an Olympic spot too. Two more women's quotas remain, Siqi Yang, Janire Gonzalez-Etxbarri and Sky Brown can all qualify by finishing top two in their repechage heat. Not sure who gets the last quota if only one of them advance.
  2. Alonso Corera and either Joan Duru or Marco Mignot have qualified for the Olympics. Four spots remaining on the men's side (plus the team spot).
  3. A very expensive pay service too :<
  4. The main round 5 will be critical - everyone who qualifies to main round 6 is guaranteed a top eight position, which is almost certain to be enough for a quota.
  5. I believe we have our first Olympic qualifiers on the women's side: Yalanda Sequeira Nadia Erostarbe Sol Aguirre Taina Hinckel The rest of the four qualifiers will come from the repechage.
  6. Erin Brooks is likely to have a pretty long career, if she's as good as she's hyped up to be she'll be a medal contender in 2028 and 2032 (and will be able to qualify through the WSL, which is a more reliable way to qualify) 16 is really young for a surfer.
  7. We're lucky she's still competing, her initial plan was to retire after Tokyo but she stuck around for one more Olympics because she feels she didn't get a "proper" Olympic experience due to the pandemic.
  8. Isn't this a more satisfying way to qualify than having lose to ? :P
  9. Was this reversed? https://olympics.com/ioc/news/milano-cortina-2026-new-competition-event-formats
  10. Yuuuuuuup. Same deal with the Nordic Combined team event, it's not a team sprint. The alpine combined event is also now a team event.
  11. The random SwimSwam commenter was right!
  12. I think Tiger Woods is a lock in men's golf, he's the greatest of all times and has won fifteen majors, it's hard to see how anyone else has more than a 10% chance of winning.
  13. It doesn't matter how much better you are than the field, under current rules there is no such thing as a lock in the sprints. Just ask Usain Bolt about his 2011 world championship title in the 100m.
  14. That is a pretty hilarious loophole if true.
  15. Ya, Dupont was really electric on Sunday. France just felt much more dangerous every time he had the ball or otherwise was involved in the play.
  16. I’m willing to bet my life savings that at least one of the “locks” mentioned in this thread won’t win gold xD
  17. I’ll be there tomorrow! But will plan to show up after the 9th and 11th place matches, so won’t see the Canadian men play (grabbing breakfast with friends instead).
  18. And one has to say they are looking like the favourites for gold!
  19. Oh no, they'll have to fight for their quota :O (A - match to decide the last quota feels a lot more fair than qualifying by beating )
  20. I am going to need login credentials and the address for an RDP session in order to look at this file.
  21. Yup, the national federation is trash. The more time goes on the more I think Kaillie Humphries was completly justified in jumping ship. The Calgary track shutting down is going to cause huge long term damage too. Whistler is not nearly as accessible.
  22. Not sure how pursuing gender equality is "bullshit". There has been a lot of negativity around agenda 2020. Certainly a lot of sport programs got cut to the bone, or even further, sports like wrestling and ski jumping are really suffering from too few quotas for instance. The obsession with mixed events is a little odd. And the general worship of the 10,500/2,900 athlete limit is a problem. But there has been a lot of positives too. Having a more gender balance program is extremely positive. And the modernization of the program has mostly been a good thing, while I am against the elimination of some traditional events and some of the aditions that have come in, it's pretty clear that the Olympics needed to start adding sports like skateboarding and cricket to stay relevant. And of course reducing cost is necessary for the survival of the Olympics. But yes, we need people who are much more in touch with reality than the Olympic gold medalist from 1976.
  23. A country can only qualify one gymnast per gender across all aparatus through the world cup, so this is correct.
