  1. Snowboard slopestyle finals canceled due to weather. Bleh. What a lame championships for the big air and slopestyle events. Final results are based on qualification. Men: 1. Chris Corning (93.25, Heat 2) 2. Mark McMorris (93.00, Heat 1) 3. Judd Henkes (90.50, Heat 2) Women: 1. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (91.75) 2. Silje Norendal (88.75) 3. Jamie Anderson (87.25)
  2. Happy to see Kingsbury be world champion in moguls again, ending his long (by his standard) dry spell. Dual Moguls tomorow is going to be quite a show. Deer Valley has the best moguls course in the world, truly nowhere better to crown a world champion.
  3. Who exactly is better on the men’s side? Hirano? Kim is obviously the best on the women’s side and it isn’t close.
  4. The best men’s and women’s half-pipe snowboarder both showed up to worlds and won? This has to he a first.
  5. If this is the last combined at worlds it’s a sad way for this great event to end (because of the downhill course, not the results).
  6. Massive upset in Team Aerials. Switzerland, the last seed, won gold against all expectations. China won silver and Russia won bronze.
  7. Qualified for the men’s ski half-pipe final: David Wise (92.0) Simon D’Artois (91.8) Aaron Blunt (91.6) Alex Ferreira (91.4) Kevin Rolland (91.2) Birk Ruud (89.6) Nico Porteous (87.0) Noah Bowman (86.4) Taylor Seaton (85.2) Thomas Krief (84.6) Participating in the mixed aerials team event: Carol Bouvard / Nicolas Gugax / Noë Roth Catrine Lavallee / Miha Fontaine / Felix Cormier-Boucher Liubov Nikitina / Stanislav Nikitin / Maxim Burov Aknarkhan Kalmurzayeva / Zhanbota Aldabergenova / Balgan Inkarbek Ashley Caldwell / Christopher Lillis / Jonathon Lillis Aliaksandra Ramanouskaya / Dzmitry Mazurkevich / Maxim Gustik Brittany George / Laura Peel / David Morris Xu Mengtao / Sun Jiaxu / Wang Xindi
  8. Qualified for the women’s ski half-pipe final: Cassie Sharpe (93.2) Kelly Sildaru (92.0) Brita Sigourney (90.2) Rachael Karker (89.6) Zhang Kexin (80.4) Li Fanghui (79.6) Maddie Bowman (77.0) Elisabeth Gram (73.6)
  9. Three canceled events, this is a little bit of a disaster :/
  10. I don’t blame him. Not only was it not prticularely safe but it was also basically a lottery.
  11. This men’s ski slopestyle final is sad. The conditions are terrible and the skiers are barely able to just make it down the course.
  12. Hofmeister winning bronze with the “crash every race” strategy xD
  13. There is literally nothing “more important” until 2021...
  14. This was a much better event back when they did two runs...
  15. Why are we even comparing White and Ledeská? Freestyle and alpine snowboarding are almost different sports now, there is no overlap between the athletes. ...and come on, Red Gerard isn’t even one of the one of the biggest star of slopestyle snowboarding, let alone snowboarding in general. He was a big media star in the US during the Olympics but that was about it.
  16. Maybe, but I’m always down for more snowboardcross. Would be happy to still have the men’s and women’s team event on top of the mixed team event tbh. Altough they need to get the technical problems straightened out, two of the eight runs required a re-run which is just not acceptable.
  17. This ski big air contest is really amazing. Women casually throwing double corks and 1080s and eight of the ten men stomping big tricks on their first jump, with the two in last place going down on a triple 1620 and 1800... This is way better than any Snowboard big air event that has ever been at the FIS worlds, that’s for sure.
  18. Is this only the case for North America?
  19. Sailing is already in Marseille. Surfing isn’t expensive to run assuming there is a suitable venue (and France is not wanting for suitable surfing venues).
  20. Football is already pushing it with 18 players, especially given that by rule three of them need to be keepers. Normally a team has 23 players for a tournament.
  21. Bold prediction: Paris will retain Skateboarding, Surfing and Climbing. Squash will (finally) be added. Karate will be on the bubble but is likely to also be retained.
  22. Given how scary the crash was that’s probably the best news we could have hoped for.
  23. I wish they used the two run format snowboarding had before 2018. Run qualification on both courses, top 16 on each course gets a second qualification run on the other course. Top 16 overall makes it to the bracket stage. Two runs per round.
  24. And SonicFox won best esports player
  25. That’s really not unusual for women’s bobsleigh in the season after the Olympics, unfortunately.
