  1. What a complete disaster day for the Canadian team...
  2. Yes, Canada has had two horror cross country rides, while Brazil has had two solid rides. Even with Brazil's lead-off rider being eliminated this is not looking great for the Canadian team.
  3. You are correct, I had not realized that continental quotas were re-allocated this way. One small caveat, the Pan-Am games has a bronze medal match so if Alves wins the bronze medal she will be ahead of Cepede-Royg for re-allocation purposes regardless of ranking.
  4. Is anyone broadcasting the cross country?
  5. Caroline Dolehide and Nadia Podoroska will qualify for the women's singles if they are in the top 300 on June 8th, 2020 and there aren't four athletes from or already qualified. Dolehide will not be selected since there are 29(!) American women ranked ahead of her. Podoroska is the second ranked Argentinian women and will qualify as long as she maintains a top 300 ranking (she is currently 288th). Unfortunately Veronica Cepede-Royg may now only qualify by ranking. She is currently 153rd and probably needs to climb around 80th to qualify.
  6. It's like half pipe if the half-pipe moved, was unstable and changed drastically from venue to venue. What kind of surfing you see on any given day depends a lot on the conditions.
  7. Surfing lends itself much better to being edited down. It creates spectacular pictures but there is a ton of downtime due to the nature of the sport. That being said it has much better live TV coverage than the Olympic sailing classes at the professional level, so clearly somebody is watching.
  8. I can't figure out if I just don't understand amateur boxing scoring at all or if the judges just throw a coin in the air to pick who wins the rounds.
  9. The Keirin is honestly pretty brillant. The original Japanese format may actually be even better than the International one.
  10. More like Canada’s fault for laying an egg in qualifying.
  11. It’s different from the point race too in that there is a sprint every two laps. TBH the new Omnium format is basically just a glorified points race and I don’t have a huge problem with that.
  12. I think the US deserves a lot of credit for their very creative routine.
  13. She also occasionally has a very charming figure skating podcast. Always really loved her energy (she strikes me as very wholesome). Edit: on Twitter she mentioned she was announcing for the roller figure skating events, too xD
  14. TBH most of the venues are really nice. Pretty impressive by Lima as a host so far.
  15. One more routine and has the quota. Good stuff. I actually liked the routines from both Mexico and the US better in terms of artistry but to my untrained and biassed eye it did look like Canada was stronger technically.
  16. Well that was certainly a fun choice of music by . Their two subs look like they are having a blast, too.
  17. An AIBA tournament with a bias towards home athletes? No, that would never happen!
  18. Looks like the order will be more or less the same as it was in Gwangju. Not really a surprise. Would be a shock of the US failed to qualify for the duet at the final qualification competition, though.
  19. What else are you gonna watch on days -2 and -1?
  20. Meant to write “stakes”. Not very good at typing on a phone.
  21. TBH I feel really bad for the players. The stakes are ridiculous.
  22. The Canadian men are just... bad.
  23. When I swam my coach always stressed hitting the wall hard. For specifically that reason.
  24. The women’s 4x200m free is not the deepest event... 14 teams looking for 12 Olympic tickets. just sneaked the last spot over .
