pdr4332 got a reaction from Fer GUA in Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 News
Looked up a press article about the olympic prizes in this otherwise God forsaken country:
Turns out the prize for gold medal this year is 140.000 euro, for the silver about 100.000 euro and the bronze about 82.000 euro. Even the 8th place is worth 8000 euro.
In total about 6.25 million € was paid out as olympic remuneration.
The "highest grossing" athlete was Tamara Csipes (canoeing) with 280.000 € in total.
In addition to the lump sum prizes the medallists are entitled to a lifetime monthly payment from age 35. Currently this payment is 1450 euro monthly for a gold medallist.
(The article states the amounts in the monopoly money otherwise known as forint, it was converted to euro at the exchange rate valid as of today)

Massive green numbers for boxing as well, which I don't think had much to do with the boxing itself
Golf was absolutely slashed, 130 to 20, yikes.

No, like seriously, guys.
This is million times better than the opening ceremony. I stand on what I am saying since Day 1. ceremonies should stay at stadiums it fits much better, this time Opening Ceremony was a failure, but this closing one is clearly saving the face and is awesome so far

The program just started and it is already much better than the opening ceremony.
I hope this will serve as lesson for the future hosts, The Opening/Closing ceremonies fit more in a stadium !

I would like this final:
After the final word of his speech Bach secretly placed his ring on his finger and disappeared

pdr4332 got a reaction from Pavlo in Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Ceremonies
Oh yes I understand. Personally I would not put relationships etc at risk because of the Olympics (good example an old friend living abroad was here on visit until this week and last week one evening we went to meet up - not for a second I cared that the OG is on)
Now I work in flexible time but if I had a job with 3 weeks vacation under absolutely no circumstances would take 2 weeks to watch the OG.
On the other hand I probably watched more international results live than Hungarian ones (I saw live the hammer throw part of the pentathlon and the gold medal by Milak) the rest from replays.

Well this was funny. Actually I liked it more than the OC (except the boat parade)
The LA segment came up with music which was “in” when i was in high school (RHCP, Dr Dre, etc) and I am almost 45 LMAO.

Did you know besides an amazing speaker, he was also a great athlete? Won Olympic gold even in fencing, 1976!

pdr4332 reacted to Nickyc707 in Your favorite positive 2024 Paris Olympics moments!
For me not an individual moment but just generally the crowds and the support that the athletes received from both the home and visiting fans. For me the best Games always have a great atmosphere and Paris goes into my top three of those that I've viewed on that count alone.
Individually the look of disbelief on young Toby Roberts face when he realised he'd won gold in the combined climbing will live with me.
And in terms of events the women's 1500m is one I'll remember. Not quite in the same class as Rudisha's 800m in 2012 but certainly reminiscent of it.
Apart from a dodgy opening ceremony and the water problems with the Seine it was a great Games. Please let's stick to holding them in the Olympic stadium in future!
Well done Paris!!!

Depends on the amount of trolling. I saw that since I was writing here regularly (2022 OG) there is less trolling in general hopefully it keeps up this way.

Ok, iif i have to give someone here the award of "more shocking thing i have ever read in totallympics", sure it will for you.
You can imagine, like argentinian, is a duty of "self preservation" to be updated with our mad economy.

Are you actively trying to make the U.S. even less popular or do you just not realize how annoying you are? Even beatmen is less biased than you are.

I think one solution to the eSports dilemma is to have this eSports Olympics which was launched (at least it was written here) recently like one week after the Olympics concludes. Therefore it can have media exposure related to the Games but still kept separate.
It could be held in a repurposed Olympics venue (but it has to have air conditioning, hahahaha 😂 😄)
