  1. This is definitely a country that knows what it wants and how to achieve it, and it doesn't need to organize the Winter Olympics to do it... When was the last time they organized one?
  2. No medals today for Italy and I`m not surprised. I don`t believe that we will suddenly become a super power in freestyle. It is very naive. At the right moment Switzerland or Canada will always be better. The whole winter season for us is weak - most likely we will not even win those 15 medals, at all. Speed skating and Brignone saved us this season, but it's not enough. There are too many failures, 4/5 places and missed opportunities. As a future organizer of the Olympic Games, it looks weak to me. I don't see any progress from 2018 or 2022, and that's probably how it should be? After today's 4th place for Tabanelli, we now have 16x 4/5th places in Olympic events this winter season and it's not a coincidence, because it was the same in the summer. This requires analysis, but there is not much time left - I doubt that anything can be changed in less than 1 year.
  3. I mean, if in such a lottery competition you count on only 1 person, your chances are very small. It's the same in snowboardcross, where for 10 years there's been one Moioli in women's and nothing. The opposite is snowboard alpine men, where we have 4-5 candidates for the podium in giant slalom and someone always surprises: if not Bormolini, then Fischnaller etc.
  4. That's why I don't get excited about the Italians' successes in the World Cup, because then the World Championships come and we're left with nothing - for years there's been one Deromedis and that's it.
  5. Italy, counting on one Galli, has minimal chances of winning medals, unfortunately.
  6. In fact, Italy is in a sense setting the trend in politics, as the Italian Trump-Berlusconi ruled here just in the 90s Visionary :P
  7. Maybe Brignone and Goggia should start competing there
  8. Do you think that Salvini will be at the opening
  9. And so the Italians aren`t danger of winning medals In the women's I used to expect more, but Lara Malsinier is probably a maximum top- 10 place, nothing more.
  10. I think that Ledecka would choose to start at the World Cup finals in Alpine skiing in the USA, which clashes with these World Championships. It's amazing that Ledecka probably focuses on 95% on alpine skiing and still wins with such an advantage in snowboard
  11. If they remove Norway completely, that leaves 4.5 countries that are seriously this sport (I count Japan as 0.5 now), but I hope that won't happen. I prefer Norway to Austria, which was the first to start the ski jumping arms race in the early 21st century.
  12. From Italy only Gismondi shows promise in the future, but I also have doubts, because we have wasted so much talent in the last dozen of yearsOn the other hand, skiers like Cassol, Monsorno, Ganz etc. may be solid, but they aren`t material for the World Cup podiums.
  13. Another 4th place... What`s a frustrating season for us. I'm just curious why France has 3-4 skiers on the podium in the World Cup, despite the fact that it's a country with no tradition in cross-country skiing and we've had one Pellegrino for 15 years? The same with women - Germany, Switzerland, and even now Andorra have great talents but we have nothing. It's not like only Norway and Sweden are successful here...
  14. I think that's how it's translate to everyone - it's the same for me, but I just change it to skier etc. I also sometimes use a translator when I`m tired and I don't want to writing in English.
  15. That's why I like Wilkund, because she's so human: she doesn't dominate and she often has human crises. In addition, she's a beautiful woman.
  16. In Big Air also out Ledeux. Today Flora Tabanelli won the slopestyle qualification. I don't know anything about this sport and I don't watch it, but I can see that this young Italian is very strong in this 2 events: slopestyle and Big Air.
  17. Just like Sven Kramer some times ago Generally, it's good to have a few sure gold medalist so that the situation in medal table is OK, but then there's no need to even watch it, for example yesterday at one point I didn't even want to watch Ghiotto, I just wanted to check the results later. I remember I was very happy when Fabris won gold in Turin 2006 in the 1500 meters. He also started slowly and everyone had a big advantage over him before the last lap and everyone was losing time: Davis, Wennemars, Hedrick etc.
  18. Lollo's victory in the 5 km was like for me a first date I haven't been this happy in a long time. Ghiotto's another golds in 10 km are just like an old good marriage, but without that wow effect
  19. Maybe, but he won with the smallest margin in 10 km in 2 years. I think, that since the 2023 World Championships, he has always won with a margin of more than 10 seconds. I simply expect more from Ghiotto than from Lollobrigida. Ghiotto's victories have become the norm in a sense and Francesca was a great surprise. Especially since her favourite distance is 3 km and mass start, not 5 km.
  20. Up to a certain point I was hoping that Ghiotto would be the new Nils van der Poel of 2022, but this season has worried me a bit: no progress in the 5 km + a small win yesterday in the 10 km. I thought that he would break the track record yesterday and win more clearly. Ghiotto was definitely in better shape in February than at the end of the season.
  21. And how do you see Ghiotto's chances in the 5 km? After this season, it look weak, even more so if Roest returns.
  22. And what do Dutch journalists say about this skater? For me his progress is a big sensation. It was more said that this young Czech could dominate in the future.
  23. Azarenka also had good relations with Lukashenka, but in her prime it was nothing controversial. Besides, in the West countries or in the USA, no one even knew who Lukashenka was in that time.
  24. From what I remember, Gamova- former volleyball player posted such pacifist posts in instagram at the beginning of the war, but without criticizing the Russian authorities. The rest really kept quiet, apart from some people who strongly supported the regime, e.g. the skier Stepanova ( I don't know if she did it out of stupidity or opportunism, but I think that she thanks to this she became very popular in Russia and I think she even has some sports programs on TV?).
