  1. The German federation also reported that. From my understanding the continental quotas should only go to countries NOT YET qualified. But reallocations from non-represented continents and host country could go to countries with only 1.
  2. Germany and Japan could not get a quota through continental qualification for their continents BUT i believe the reallocated quota from Oceania could go to Germany
  3. Do you guys know if the combined results will be only from the finals? will they combine the points or position? from que qualis or finals? thanks!
  4. No, only the medal race doubles the points. It happened the same thing with the women's ilca 6 wc a few weeks ago!
  5. Actually the top10 sailors race in the medal race, but the others still have one more race to compete. The gold fleet starts without the top10. So the winner will be 11th. this is here, on 7.4 : https://onb.ilca.roms.ar/ilca7men2024/images/onbdocs/SAILING_INSTRUCTIONS_Amendment_1.pdf They even posted Wednesday order of race: https://onb.ilca.roms.ar/ilca7men2024/images/onbdocs/Notice_06_-_Plan_for_Wednesday_31_January.pdf So, if i haven't made any mistake, taking into account the discard, Guatemala, Montenegro, Chile and Denmark already secured the quotas. So Brazil and Argentina get the reallocated continental ones. 13-🇬🇹Juan Maegli 98pt (max de 129) 21-🇲🇪Milivoj Dukic 118pt (máx de 170) 24-🇨🇱Clemente Seguel 123pt (máx de 168) 25-🇩🇰Johan Lundgaard Schubert 124pt (máx de 151) 26-🇮🇳Vishnu Saravanan 125pt (máx de 174) - by 1 point he is still out of a secured quota 28-🇹🇷Yigit Yalcin Citak 146pt (máx de 188) 30-🇸🇪Emil Bengtson 161pt (máx de 207) 31-🇭🇰Nicholas Halliday 163pt (máx de 207) 33-🇲🇾Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy 165pt (máx de 218) 38-🇦🇷Francisco Guaragna Rigonat 184pt (máx de 236) 39-🇲🇪2️⃣ Ilija Markovic 186pt (máx de 233) 40-🇨🇦Luke Ruitenberg 199pt (máx de 247) 42-🇸🇬Ryan Lo 207pt (máx 253) 44-🇺🇲Ford Mccann 209pt (máx 261) 46-🇺🇲2️⃣Marshall Mccann 216pt (máx 255) 47-🇦🇷2️⃣Facundo Olezza 218pt (máx 270) 48-🇨🇭Gauthier Verhulst 223pt (máx 275) 49-🇵🇷Pedro Fernandez 224pt (máx 266) 51-🇹🇷2️⃣Berkay Abay 244pt (máx 296)
  6. In an unexpected turn of events, Caroline Gomes dos Santos was awared a ranking quota. Brazilian Taekwondo Federation says that because France chose this quota, it was reallocated, but that only makes sense if World Taekwondo realized there were no universality places (if I understand well via F2, as France won 2 quotas, its Host Nation quotas would be reallocated via Universality)
  7. As it was discussed in the first page of this topic, only a tournament with 3 eligible nations serves as Olympic qualifier. I think lol
  8. If I'm not mistaken, the reallocation would go to: MK1Hannes Aigner WK1Carole Bouzidi WC1Klaudia ZWOLINSKA Obviously as mentioned above, many quotas will be declined to allow athletes to double/triple-up during the Paris games.
  9. If I'm not mistaken, Brodie CRAWFORD got this one? https://siwidata.com/canoe123/live?SessionKey=auscanoe.2024012500
  10. wow that's so sad!! I truly believe that this is one of the "hidden legacies" of Rio Olympics. Surto Olímpico, for instance, started in the leading up to the Games, Olimpíada Todo Dia was created a bit after that. Some of the journalists had a bigger platform in the big media, etc. In the late 90s/early 00, the biggest sports newspapers had lot of pages devoted to olympic sports, but now the big media is basically football as well.
  11. Hey guys/gals, I thought we could share here good websites from each country that follow Olympic sports in a more local level. Places where olympic athletes, sports, results, national leagues and politics are covered in depth. I will start with Brazil Olimpíada Todo Dia - The main website that covers Olympic sports (I may be biased because I write for it ). Created after the Rio 2016 Olympics (could it be a legacy then? lol). The main focus is Brazilian (olympic) sports in all levels. Besides the website it is particularly strong on instagram and tiktok. Surto Olímpico - Created in 2011, the first of its sort. Besides the website, it has a very strong presence on Twitter. Covers mostly elite sports, both in Brazil and international. ps: also biased, as I worked there from 19 to 21. Globo Esporte (GE.com)- From Grupo Globo, the main media conglomarate in Brazil. It covers all sports, and don't necessarily focus on Brazilian sports, but they have an Olympic page. One of the columnists, Guilherme Costa, has a blog focused on Olympic qualification and also an "Olympic thermometer". He is also strong on twitter. UOL Esporte- As Globo, it covers sports in general. Its Olympic staff produces specials from time to time (like this incredible piece on Daniele Hypolito by Beatriz Cesarini) and also it's home to the columnist Demétrio Vecchioli, who writes for Olhar Olímpico also with a strong presence on Twitter -, notorious for his focus on Sports politics. Besides those websites (sorry if I'm forgetting someone), Os Olímpicos by Saulo Próspero and Marcio Melo famously cover Olympic qualification from start ot finish. Chapolins Brasileiros is a twitter and instagram account by the best organized fanclub for olympic sports in Brazil. They travel around the world since the 2011 pan American Games. Most recently, Piu Esportes also started as a strong twitter account and now is moving towards general media, with a youtube channel. Also worthy of mention is Brazilian Olympic Committee, with a speedy presence on social media through its trademark Time Brasil, specially twitter and instagram - obviously only highlighting the positive side of Brazilian sports. If you understands well Portuguese or wants to learn, the best way is to hear Rumo ao Pódio with Globo Esporte's journalists Guilherme Costa, Marcel Merguizzo and Giovana Pinheiro. Duplo Twist Hablado is a fantastic podcast devoted to Gymnastics, and is also very active on twitter. And Surto Olímpico and Olimpíada Todo Dia also have spotify profiles and Time Brasil on Youtube. Speaking of specific sports, Tênis Brasil and Best Swimming are absolutely the best. The latter is headed by Coach Alex Pussieldi, with a very active presence on twitter and instagram. On Brazilian volleyball, be in clubs or national team, a good option is Portal Vôlei, active on twitter and instagram. For Winter Games, Brasil Zero Grau by Gustavo Longo is the main source of information and analysis. For academics, I recommend to follow the work of Grupo de Estudos Olímpicos (GEO) by USP - University of São Paulo - who releases biannualy the Olimpianos, the Journal of Olympic Studies - with articles in English and Portuguese.
  12. Can't believe that Barber is gone! During the 2015 Pan Am Games I sent a couple of athletes friends request on facebook. He not only accepted but was always super friendly and during the Rio Games we chatted a bit more and he even wrote he would try to get me tickets for the pole vault final. Was super happy to read his come out post on facebook in the spring of 17, but hard to know what was it about. Afterwards he disappeared from social media and his results got a bit behind as well.
  13. I'm keeping this list with the names of all athletes with quota. Not sure yet how I will do as some countries are already deciding their quotas (as Japan in marathon). Probably keep in other page, or in bold, or a different color. https://olimpiadatododia.com.br/paris-2024/523477-lista-de-atletas-com-indice-olimpico-no-atletismo-para-paris-2024/ (and this list is not updated since end of 23).
  14. hey Josh sure!!! I was about to do it this week, as we have at least the Road to Paris list out now to guide us. I will probably post during the week. Please feel free to reach me out if I do something wrong in format!
  15. Ana Sátila, from Brazil, will compete in all 3 slalom events. This means that Brazil will decline Omira's quota on K1 when the time comes. The quota would go to Kate Eckhardt, from Australia, but probably it will not accept as well (as Jessica Fox probably will compete in all of them as well). Then, if I'm not mistaken the quota would go to Carole Bouzidi I'm bit unsure on what would happen if she gets a quota on the African Olympic Qualifier. If the reallocation would continue through the Worlds (Laura Pellicer Chica) or the African, as the World Championships has priority
  16. Thanks! Finally updating my spreadsheet and... Akira Akasaki still doesn't have quota, right? What would happen if he doesn't reach?
  17. I'm keepin track of those here on this webpage (in portuguese) But basically: 10m Air Rifle (10)- 10m Air Pistol (9)- Skeet (9)-
  18. 50M RIFLE 3 POSITIONS WOMEN FINAL MIAO Wanru Alexandra LE LEE Eunseo Ashi CHOUKSEY Najmeh KHEDMATI Anjum MOUDGIL Sift Kaur SAMRA KIM Jehee Only 3 eligible athletes on the final. So, 2 quotas between
  19. Suicide in a shooting competition made me stop and think a bit
  20. We still have one last race tomorrow. Only Finland and Uruguay are qualified (due to the discard points). Ireland is safe, I guess... but all the others on the line
  21. but so what happens to her 2023 quota? It stays in Portugal? Or if she wants to compete for Greece, can go to Greece? Or would it go to Finland's Monika Mikkola, 25th at the World? Or Last chance regatta?
  22. Just got news that the "Final Race" tomorrow will be a normal race, without the 10 sailors at the medal race.
  23. Guys, do you know what is supposed to be the "Last Race" tomorrow? is it a consolation race for those outside the medal race or worth points?
  24. According to this profile, the nationality of the Bulgarian athlete was challenged, since she is Russian. Also, Vasileia Karachaliou was denied change of nationality by the Greek Olympic Committee President, so not sure what this means. Does Greece or Portugal keep her quota?
  25. No, on the last day. (Editing for clarity: Tuesday is the last day. Medal race on Wednesday) But something strange happened. They published a revised fleet. The bulgarian sailor is simply GONE. They only consider 101 boats. So all the previous results are also updated. This means that Gabriella Kid is on the gold fleet. So: for the 7 quotas Here is the revised https://onb.ilca.roms.ar/ilca6women2024/images/onbdocs/Fleet_Assignment_for_Monday_8th_January_2024_REVISED.pdf
