11th Quickly followed by our 12th Quota Sift Kaur Samra won a quota place for in 50m 3P Air Rifle (W) in the ongoing shooting world championships.

Sift Kaur Samra finished an excellent 5th in 50m 3P AR(W) and got our 6th quota in shooting (3 in this world championships) & our 12 quota overall Turning out to be a decent world championships for us & with getting their quota places here opens up the asian championships for us to get that 2nd quota place .

Shooting at olympics will be really tough, on our day we could win medals but Paris could well follow Tokyo and Rio pattern. But I am optimistic we will perform better in Paris in terms of athletes qualifying to the Finals, once in the “Final” anything can happen! We can evaluate the team closer to the games, which is still 11 months away! As for archery, we couldn’t qualify either team or individual archer in world championships so target has to be the asian qualification event in Nov this year. We can try for the mixed quota in asian games but that will be tough . Hopefully we will get one of the teams qualifying if not both.

He finished a creditable 37th in a world championships where the last quota went to the 23rd ranked sailor( at one point he was in those 16 quota places). Sailing will definitely have representation in Paris/Marseille 2024 as a minimum Vishnu should achieve qualification at the asian regatta in Dec this year. If or not we can qualify more boats remains to be seen. But the crews needs to improve massively to have any chance.

Most of those girls are from the state of Haryana, where they don’t use surnames. Hence in official entry for UWW , you get their first names repeated twice! Anyways they are so good that UWW decided to name them twice

Not necessarily. Vishnu looks good to qualify, possibly from the Asian regatta in Dec this year. Nethra had a very poor outing at world championships, she has 3 other asian girls ahead of her at this WCs . Going by this form it will be tough in Asian and World regatta. But yes, our best bet after Vishnu should be Nethra qualifying. As for ENP programme quota allocation , it will be probably by invitation only, however it doesn’t really concern us as both the quotas in ENp are in Laser class and IQ Foil . In laser we should qualify by merit 2 boats whereas in IQ foil its better if we don’t get invited and embarrass ourselves. We also have outside chances in Mixed Nacra class and men’s 49er. But both crews need to improve massively at the asian / last chance regatta.
