  1. Yeah, I'm fine with Ronaldo missing that PK. Could be the last straw for his NT career if Portugal goes out.
  2. In a match between the two youngest players in the women's main draw Brenda Fruhvirtova came back from 1-6 0-3 down to beat Mirra Andreeva 1-6 6-3 6-2. So yes, she won 12 of the last 14 games vs the Roland Garros semi-finalist
  3. Zheng Qinwen is the highest women seed to bite the dust in R1. Her cakewalk draw run to AO final looks worse by the month. Maria Sakkari has won her R1 match at GS again! Meanwhile Paula Badosa won after 1h 21 mins vs Karolina Muchova with one game lasting 18 minutes alone.
  4. A poor game but a bounce off Vertonghen gives France the lead in the 85th minute.
  5. Arrogance got caught out so he has to say the usual nonsense about "friends" on the bench. He's no different than any super star who thinks he's bigger than life. It's always about ego for these millionaire footballers
  6. Btw, Latin football commentators are a different state of mind indeed
  7. Aryna Sabalenka has withdrawn due to a right shoulder injury. It appears to be serious so she could be out for weeks if not months. LL Erika Andreeva is the replacement.
  8. I'm also happy for Ecuador. Guess we could see more of their fans again
  9. France is a rooster who thinks it's a hawk. Macron is reaping the rewards of being a social experiment in a fancy suit more than a politician let alone a country leader. A weak man who could be remembered as the one who gave the far-right the biggest victory in Western politics since the end of WWII. What a legacy!
  10. It was fun while it lasted. Now have to trust Switzerland...
  11. 4 yellow cards in 17 mins. Looks like the Turkish ref has accepted the challenge from Kovacs
  12. Finally some controversy as Russell wins Austrian GP after Verstappen and Norris collide while battling for the lead late in the race. Verstappen still finished 5th.
  13. @FaramirWith no Russia who suddenly got that better in men's sabre? I thought Italy and Hungary would be easily in Top 4
  14. My wildest of guesses - men's team sabre
  15. Elisabetta Cocciaretto has withdrawn from the main draw and has been replaced by LL Olga Danilovic.
  16. Maybe they still remember Marek Mintal in Nurnberg alas that stadium is not on the Euro schedule
  17. Ecuador making a push to win on artistic impression points
  18. All Switzerland so far and they take the lead. Italy playing like San Marino here
  19. Norah Jeruto is allowed to compete in Paris by CAS. Thiago Braz is allowed to compete at the Brazilian Trials this weekend.
  20. The biggest Polish sports newspaper run a story where they suggest Sabalenka, Kaladzinskaya (wrestling) and the sprint canoer were in fact blackmailed by the Belarussian state in order to be removed from the Games (i.e. they did everything to expose the ties to the state which would void their eligibility no matter how the athletes tried to distance themselves from it). For Lukashenka having the athletes not competing at the Games is more useful than if they did compete. Overall the anti-Sabalenka bias has slightly subsided in recent months though some tennis commentators still think Russia & Belarus should be banned outright from ATP & WTA but that's never going to happen. https://przegladsportowy.onet.pl/igrzyska-olimpijskie/paryz-2024/drugie-dno-decyzji-aryny-sabalenki-nawet-propagandysci-aleksandra-lukaszenki-sie/hr56nel
  21. Referees for the Sunday R16 matches: Halil Umut Meler - vs Francois Letexier - vs
  22. Even BBC piles it on the old & senile fool Biden. You can only hide that cat in the bag for so long. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crgedpw4r5eo
  23. upsets 2-1. Well, that's what you get for total stupidity from Weah.
  24. Timothy Weah should be banned for multiple games after that red card for punching. What an entitled prick. I haven't seen a punch to the back of the head in football for a long while. I assume the US media will defend him it wasn't even a red card.
