Ko got a chance for the gold and she immediately crumbled.
Ko choking is far more familiar sight indeed

loses the ball. I have no idea how big of a penalty that is

Do all group events take place with the ball? Or was this the object selected for the Games?

Korda leads Ko by three. It's funny, if it was Ko leading by this margin I'd say there is a chance for some meltdown. I don't see a choke from Korda though but you never know.

14th for Nadolska. That's way above expectations.

1-2. Seidel with bronze in only her third marathon ever?
Mazuronak in 5th - an European who was actually born in Europe

Huh? She's still third. You didn't expect her to beat the Kenyans?

Salpeter has blown the engine! This is a race walking-like collapse!

Told ya. It turns out I know what happens to Sinclair even better than the Canadians do

in paris there will be separate events for speed and combined (Bouldering & lead)
And this is how it was supposed to be from the start. IOC crapped the bed as usual

Honestly, Miroslaw had a pretty decent chance at a medal here. All she needed to win a medal after that win in the speed was a zone hold in boulder or to beat Jaubert (another speed specialist) in the lead. It’s true the format didn’t favor her (or other speed climbers), but this wasn’t an impossible task for her.
This should be even playing field, not "not impossible task". This format doesn't give speed speciallists any chance to win a medal. Like I've said even Polish TV said she doesn't stand a chance after she was still placed second before the final part. This is way too predictable and kills any excitement. Everyone knew she will finish 8th in both non-speed parts and therefore outside of the medals. She finished fourth due to only being 8 women in the final. If there were 10 she'd be like 5th or 6th.

Indonesia will likely win the gold in Paris... I speed
It's not about gold, Miroslaw would actually stand a chance to win any medal in Paris. Here in Tokyo even Polish TV didn't hype her for a medal despite the WR because everyone knew she would finish 8th in lead & boulder and hence miss out. You don't put Usain Bolt in 10,000 race and expect him to win a medal. I really hope this unfair combined gets canned in Paris and they will split the events like in World Games.

I am surprised they have never swapped the 4x100 with the 4x400 as the sprint relay feels a better end in terms of the fact the 100m runners are usually more famous and the bigger names.
Individual 100m sprints always come before 400 and that is the main goal, you want to start the athletics in a high and pick it from there.

Sure enough delivers in modern pentathlon, a totally obscure sport these days. Asadauskaite is 37yo though so they might not count on her in Paris anymore.

Overall, how is the Games for Canada? Did you complain much about Week 1? Since Italy and Poland have had a tremendous run of form in Week 2 (by our own standards) I wonder if Canada had a better first or second week? You didn't win any golds in swimming?

what about the women's world cup Australia/New Zealand in two years?
Obviously she goes there. The days of Birgit Prinz retiring at age 34 are long over

Sinclair is likely retiring after this. She accomplished the title she was missing
Neah, I wouldn't be surprised if she goes to Paris at age 41

I watched race walk for some time And i wonder that in time of advanced technology, they still use cards as warning. I think for everbody will be better to use some Smartwatch and give this cards (penalty) to them digitally. And racer could easily check how much cards they already have.
It will be advantage for everyone (racer, judge, TV, fans)
What do you think?
Here's the thing, athletes can always pretend their watch failed or something and claim they didn't know they were on a warning. If a judge waves a card in your face then you can't claim you didn't see it.

I think it's having respect for the greatest goal scorer of all time. Imagine the headlines if they left Sinclair off the team?
Sinclair is 38 years old. She'll have to be left off the team one day
Brazil keeps fielding Formiga and they haven't won anything in women's football for decades.

It's hard to really figure out how fit she was tbh. The entire Canadian offence was terrible all tournament.
Yes, this is basically how Greece won Euros 2004. Play defense, ugly stuff up front and hope for 1-0 wins thru set pieces. It works once every decade for someone. It's gonna be hard for your women to win anything again if Labee remains the best player on the team.

Labbé is the tournament MVP for Canada, easily.
Sinclair was almost a non-factor this tournament, but after carrying so many mediocre Canadian teams it's just so good to finally seeing a team carry her.
I'm not a big fan of such carrying. When you're too old, you're too old. I can only assume the depth of women's football in Canada doesn't allow you to ditch Sinclair? USA has the same problem, Rapinoe & Lloyd are too old anymore and 3rd place for USA must be considered a huge failure for them.

Yes, I can imagine losing the object is the biggest mistake possible. Watched some RG fails last week and ball & hoop seem to provide the biggest drama since they have a tendency to roll/bounce away
