  1. Not a great run from Święty-Ersetic and she probably goes out in the heats.
  2. Yet he actually lost a place after his leg? You'd won anyway but Bol was fortunate she wasn't boxed in 4th place at the start of her leg. The last UK change probably cost them a silver medal since Belgium had a huge head start.
  3. Bad tactics. You should NEVER attack from last place indoors. It never works out. Calamity in the men's 800 Heat 1. Kitliński got shoved & bumped around like a rag doll.
  4. Femke Bol carried the mixed relay to predictable gold. Van Diepen was particulary useless dropping to 4th place but Bol immediately moved to 2nd place within the first few steps taking advantage of slow last exchange (Nielsen had to look back for the baton twice).
  5. Paweł Wąsek has been passed for the mixed event. Let's see if we can finish higher than 8th
  6. Kowalczyk's coach was from Kazakhstan and yeah, that's the old Soviet school. Her training was very harsh and nobody in Poland could keep up so she was a one-athlete team for majority of her career. Some footballers saw her training in Tatra mountains in the summer and she was running up the hill with a tire attached to her waist with a rope. That's proper Soviet methods or what. The sponsors were not there even after the bronze she won at 2006 OG, remember this was when our ski jumping was still at peak of popularity and Apoloniusz Tajner became the head of Skiing Association which made every other winter sport even less relevant. Kowalczyk only got some serious sponsorship (Orlen, PKO Bank, car manufacturers) after Liberec WC 2009. In late 2000s she still travelled around Europe in a van with coach and two classic skis waxers from Estonia (Are Mets & Peep Koidu) that were the key part of the success (and many other feds wanted to buy them out but they stayed with her). She had different waxers for freestyle skis later on.
  7. Geiger's suit was suspicious as hell based on landing stills that can be found on twitter. Thankfully he didn't win a medal
  8. Due to lack of NH events during World Cup this one is always bound to throw a surprise. Lindvik basically did nothing all season and the Norwegian ski jumping has struggled with all the funding issues but here they are with old on home turf. One bronze is bad for Austria but I'm convinced they'll bounce back on LH
  9. There are actually two Molls hehe. The twin sister jumped "only" 4.81 in the same event
  10. Maximilian Ortner was chosen over veteran Michael Hayboeck for the last spot in the NH competition. will field 5 men since Piotr Żyła is the defending champion.
  11. Vonn had a podium shot but one bad turn and over a second lost
  12. Gut-Behrami with one line error/gamble that she corrected in the next three turns and only 0.06 behind Brignone. A let off...
  13. Many mistakes in the women's Super G in Kvitfjell. Only 3 of the first nine skiers didn't make a big error or DNF outright. Goggia with a shaky run but only 0.09 behind Brignone.
  14. Amanda Moll with a new NCAA pole vault record in Indianapolis (4.91). That's 8th best all-time and ties Stefanidi & Kennedy's PB
  15. in 7th place after the 1st round of the women's NH team competition only managed to beat but we fielded a nordic combined girl just to have a team and she jumped whooping 57.5 meters
  16. Nika Prevc wins the NH gold so no real surprise here
  17. Justyna Święty-Ersetic beat Natalia Kaczmarek in the 400m Polish nationals final alas Natalia had a pause this month due to a hamstring injury and she generally dislikes running indoors. It's debatable if she competes at IEC.
  18. That's World Cup win #100 for Shiffrin! Obviously it was only a matter of time and she managed to accomplish this before her 30th birthday next month.
  19. Helena Oeberg promptly finished 30th and last. Probably the only race in history where siblings finished 1st and last
  20. Elvira breaks her personal WCh curse to take gold! Michelon & Kirkeeide for the minor medals. Richard 4th and Tdorova with a great 5th place.
  21. Elvira Oeberg holds her nerve on the last shoot!
  22. even lost to but nobody expected miracles. TVP Sport crew said their view at the range was obscured by a giant flag
  23. Kamil Stoch wasn't selected for the upcoming Nordic Skiing World Championships in Trondheim
  24. Yes, winning ATP title at age 18 is extremely rare to say the very least so it will be very interesting where he goes from here
