  1. Natasa Bokal (alpine skiing) passed away at the age of 59.
  2. Only nine jumps of 130+ on the biggest LH there is Zyla 85.5 wouldn't even make Top 30 on any NH these days
  3. Rybakina just needed Vukov back, she's been playing her best tennis since he was re-instated. Also WTA needed a three-set final, this edition has had a ton of straight set matches in the second week.
  4. Yes, Vonn also had a really nasty crash in 2006 Torino DH training but recovered to compete. Obviously she was much younger then.
  5. I'm on the wrong side of 40 (Ben Stiller vibes) so yes, I remember Hip Hap Hop haha. I don't remember the presenter's name but I recall his blonde mullet I live basically 90-120 minutes car drive to the Czech border (and yes, I've been to to old CSRS where I ordered a beer in German to say the very least alas I've also ordered a beer speaking German in Hungary so we're all in the same sphere anyway )
  6. It doesnt's take a genius to figure out ice hockey is popular in Slovakia hehe (for someone living in Poland where 95% of ice hockey clubs are based in southern Poland (Tatra region) with the exception of the now defunct Stoczniowiec Gdansk or TKP (Towimor) Toruń. And it does help Jaromir Jagr was the ultimate star when I left my adolescent days (Jari Kurri was before my time but an active veteran) and probably Robert Svehla and Petrovicky were the first two I realized were Slovakian than Czech). Then again I remember Drahomir Kadlec and Bedrich Scerban and Lubomir Sekeras more than anything. Only the last one was Slovakian. Overall from our 7 neighbors Czechia, Slovakia, Belarus get the positive vibes. Ukraine a solid 4th. Lithuania also a positive median. Germany and Russia are down the order to say the very least for historical purposes
  7. Hah! I suppose Slovakia doesn't pay attention to speed skating much I live close enough to the southern border to get old Czechoslovakian TV off my ground antenna back in the day (Nova TV even in early 90s) and the Zakopane/Jasna OG bid is viable even if there is literally one road from Krakow-Balice airport to Zakopane hehe. Forget A Je To! or Krtek, I even recall hazeni houbou in Hip Hap Hop
  8. Does Brazilian media even realize who Braathen in? Or just typical Campeonato Carioca/Paulista news in January?
  9. Cheering for our southern neighbors to win a medal (hockey & Fialkova being the realistic options ).
  10. Aicher gives some Martina Ertl vibes. Talented enough to be an elite-ish all-arounder but just unable to be dominant in that one event so comes up short in chase of the overall.
  11. Really tough on Musetti Must have some Berrettini vibes
  12. More useless nomination drama as NOC nominated DNF merchant Michal Jasiczek over Piotr Habdas (who returned from injury). Just like in the Komorowska/Sawicka drama the eventual pick is only eligible in slalom (which Jasiczek probably DNF's anyway).
  13. Very few upsets so far which is an upset itself. Elina Svitolina just dismissed Cori Gauff 6-1 6-2 and is back into "live" Top 10 rankings.
  14. Nope. Our team has become too old. Stoch will be the oldest ski jumper at OG after Ammann & Fettner lack of nomination. Tomasiak might challenge for a Top 10, Stoch maybe for low teens at best and Wąsek should be fortunate to even make Top 30. Duets probably 6th place.
  15. All names except are published. No Granerud, Fettner and Ammann (lost out to Trunz for the last Swiss spot).
  16. And it's Sam Darnold & Seattle Seahawks into SB after 31-27 win over LA Rams. A true Jets nightmare
  17. New England Patriots are going to the Super Bowl... again. NY Jets or Buffalo Bills fans must be very happy now!
  18. A complete shitshow in Poland since PZN nominated Nikola Komorowska who didn't fulfill the internal requirements unlike Aniela Sawicka but could have done 3 events (DH, SG, GS) while Sawicka would only do slalom. A public backlash led to Komorowska resignation only after PZN cancelled her nomination (NOC intended to veto it anyway) but didn't make it public before Komorowska made the decision public herself. None of this would even happen if Magdalena Łuczak wasn't injured, she was always getting the second quota but didn't recover in time to make the OG.
  19. I asked a Polish journalist on twitter and he said there are no rellocations.
  20. Kapustikova looks to be fine so I wouldn't worry about her health
  21. Shiffrin secured her 9th slalom globe so has more discipline globes than anyone else (Stenmark SL, Vonn DH & Hirscher GS have 8 each).
