after this very importnt win over VEN is basically one win from qualifying to the world cup now. It may be even the earliest qualification in ECU history and this even with the 3 points penalisation

not sure about the outsider part, since bach was silently endorsing her

konig reacted to ChandlerMne in IOC President Election 2025
Not so sure about this election outcome but:
1. I am glad that woman won
2. I am glad that someone from Africa won
3. I am glad that outsider for the position won
4. I hope that she will be sane enough to enrich the Games with good sport choices - to focus on athletes, not on DEI policy
5. Modernisation of Games is a must but it shouldn't be done the way Bach did it. Experiments with stupid mix relays, breakdancing are here to reminds us what NOT to do.
6. I hope that she will solve participation issue

Well, that is a good start. But Bach also had a good start and then it became a train wreck.

konig reacted to Cinnamon Bun in IOC President Election 2025
I don't think it'll be as bad as people think, Kirsty has gone against the Bach grain with some things such as the transgender issue so there could be a case here of Coventry using Bach just to get in this position. But the whole situation of almost all the members sucking up to Bach was really quite sickening.

konig reacted to Cinnamon Bun in IOC President Election 2025
If she can get pressing matters sorted like this blanket ban on transgender athletes sorted quickly, like she promised to do in a recent BBC interview, then I can see her reign being quite successful. I can also see her being in favour of more athlete quotas for LA which is always a good sign, and maybe we'll finally get 50m events fully at an Olympics which is something I assume she'll be looking at doing.

watching the IOC session yesterday it was like Chinese communist party, everybody praising the dictator and trying to kiss a part of his body. it was like he invented the Olympic himself. very disgusting.
of course such result was expected after that.

Presumably every country will be leaving the IBA and joining World Boxing in the next few months.

Since it's already a week later, I think it's safe to assume @Wanderer and @Belle are both not interested in organizing the contest (to be clear: no judgement, anyone can be busy, just not have the time or motivation to do so or any other reason, no worries)?

The very talented 17 yo Konstantinos Karetsas announced he will play for his parents' country instead of his birth country
The Belgians do not seem happy but as a Greek, we have been in that position many times with dual citizens so it is nice for it to work in our favour sometimes too
I mean in basketball we could have Vezenkov but instead he chooses to play for his parents' country , despite never living there, when with Greece he would qualify for major tournaments and be one of our starting players, and for Bulgaria they rarely qualify for anything...

In my opinion, the greatest allies of the USA in Europe now see what others have seen before: the USA thinks only of itself and nothing more. No values there, no democracy, free world, etc. I don`t recall any ally of the USA in the 21st century doing well in business with them (It is difficult to call the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. successful: for example Poland was forced to participate in them and send its soldiers there). Only before, US politicians were at least nice and patted them on the back and now the masks have fallen: Trump, Musk and others are simply rude, arrogant and treat others like garbage. Now, if I were the Prime Minister or Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, I would go on a diplomatic trip to Beijing as soon as possible...

What’s the point. We all know it will overrun and delay the start of the second half, making the players more prone to injury. It takes away from the actual spectacle (the football), and overall just feels like a forced way to make the game for ‘Americanised’
If you have ever watch the champions league final, then they do a flashy performace before the start of the match, and they boos alone tell you what the fans think of it.

konig reacted to OlympicIRL in Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2024
Hi everyone,
@Sindo has encouraged me to come on the forum to address the situation about the next contest. I have been very busy lately and I haven't had the much time to dedicate to TISC. I must admit though motivation has been pretty low as well at the present time. I will be traveling in Asia for some of the next month so I don't know if I will be able to organise TISC. If neither @Wanderer nor @Belle want to host then we can open it up to bids from any user who wants to host. And if no one wants to host then I suggest we have a TISC hiatus and re-assess some time in the future.

konig reacted to Olympian1010 in Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2024
Well, let's follow the rules in the absence of @OlympicIRL
I believe @Wanderer was interested in the being the next host, as the jury didn't want to host two contests in a row. Let's give him until Friday to respond in one way or another.
If we haven't heard from @Wanderer by Friday, then perhaps it's time to extend hosting rights to @Belle
If @Belle is unable to step in as host, then we begin the bidding process for interested juries and go from there.

So at this time I'd like to thank everyone who has ever hosted one of these competitions, very much appreciated!
