  1. Tomorrow in the prologue in the Basque Country, all favourites start before the TV broadcasts begins
  2. The spectator who was hit on the Hotond is badly injured, but not in a life threatening condition.
  3. Spectator hit, she was not looking good at all... Belgian TV's motorbike commentator said he just passed the place of the crash and said it looked very bad.
  4. It is the day of days, Tour of Flanders Although in Belgium it's the end of a week of national mourning, it has had a general vibe - and I swear I am not exaggerating - as if Van Aert died last Wednesday (he got injured and broke a few things but he most certainly is still alive). Flanders is....weird All week long, all the cycling talk shows have been about it, there were live blogs about his wife and kids arriving in the hospital and so on.
  5. Cambridge stroke Matt Edge very much in physical trouble, about to faint even it looks like. Very much, you know...on the edge.
  6. Doesn't look like it's going to be the first real close race in over two decades. Too bad
  7. Almost time for the men, go Oxford (because of Jelmer Bennema)
  8. Still always feels more special than even the world championships Nice bit of fighting, Oxford cox wasn't happy at all
  9. Kiplimo with the win, nice fight.
  10. Going into the last kilometer or so I thought one of the Kenyans might take the win here, and they do!
  11. I did wonder at the exchange why she wouldn't just take the other one off as well then (better run with no shoes than run unbalanced with one, I'd say), but hadn't noticed she did that later on. Smart indeed
  12. Yeah, but in Australia I'd expect that, I wouldn't expect this heat in Belgrade yet. Then again, I have zero experience with Belgrade, so it's really more a matter of me not knowing enough
  13. How is it this hot already in Belgrade?
  14. With the playoffs closing in, which is the part of the season I do kind of try to follow, I've got a question: what are the main story lines going on right now/this season? Like, is there a certain team that is massively underperforming and surprisingly in danger of not making the playoffs, is there a team that is a sensation this season, something like that
  15. You might want to get some reading glasses, it's right in there
  16. I can only watch the medal fights on-demand anyway (Eurosport), so for the rest I just go by the results. The medal fights with Dutch athletes I'll skip a bit less, depending on how it goes. If it's minute after minute of just standing around and trying to get a grip (which is the case in most judo medal fights sadly), I'll just skip bit by bit
  17. Ah yeah, cross-country here as well, and I'll keep an eye on the judo Grand Slam in Antalya (mostly that will consist of skipping through the medal matches to see if anything interesting happens, I can't bring myself to watch 7 hours of judo in a weekend ).
  18. Here it's going to be one of the quietest sports weekends of the year, since it's the switch from winter to summer sports basically (in November there's usually a weekend like that too, the other way around) All winter sports I can or want to watch have finishes, there's no F1, MotoGP, WSBK or IndyCar. Main things are problably Formula E in Tokyo (which is finished by the time Saturday gets underway) and of course Sunday is the number one sit on the sofa and shut up day of the year, the High Mass, Flander's Most Beautiful, Tour of Flanders Some small stuff around it, like a bit of darts and some junior racing, but that's about it. Oh, and of course rowing on Sunday, The Boat Race Perfect weekend to catch up with lots of stuff, with Saturday and Sunday being fairly quiet (or easy '1 at a time' days) and Monday being a free day because of someone dying 2000 years ago
  19. Eurovision Sport, ugh. Why is everything on their broken platform
  20. Such a bummer. Obviously no fan will be happy to see someone get injured anyway, but it really devalues the next few big races. Of course in 10 years nobody will be talking about who wasn't there, as always, but during the races people will.
  21. With gold for a guy born in 2010. Fantastic, that's two years after I left school....now I am really starting to feel old as well.
  22. Somewhat risky Austrian regional championships on the schedule, apparently. https://worldathletics.org/competition/calendar-results?disciplineId=2
