@dcro I believe the rankings for Olympics are ended. So, can you please tell me if Fouaad Mirza has completed minimum requirements.

There are no qualifying competitions until March now. He will have to achieve MER somewhere between March-June in order to take up the quota he earned...

Meanwhile, jumping rankings have been revealed. No surprises - :SRI Sri Lanka is now a confirmed qualifier, while :POL Poland and :JOR Jordan are still (presumably) waiting on news about Qatar/Ukraine.

BREAKING NEWS

:UKR Ukraine is out, :CZE Czech Republic is in! :yikes:

This also means no Poland (unless Ukraine declines their individual spot). Qatar and Jordan are safe.

How lucky is Czech Republic though. :d Going from absolutely nothing to a full jumping team just like that. They were quite far off individual qualification.

Poland is the complete opposite. They finished one penalty behind Israel in Moscow, and on a much better score compared to what Ukraine did in Budapest. Sure, usually you can't really compare scores on two different courses, but this is very much an exception to that rule, since Poland got like 15 total penalties, while Ukraine got 50+... And now they lose their (already celebrated) individual spot to Ukraine again!!

Aaaand last time around they got royally screwed by Ukraine in dressage, so... From now on they should just refuse to acknowledge Ukraine's very existence.

It would be nice to watch :p

"And now on the bench is getting ready six-year old mare Josie with her Polish jockey Kamil Stoch :POL . Oh no. There is a little stronger back wind. But they got green. Take off..... nice timing..... a little messy flight but over construction point 120metres and beautiful telemark on all four. Judges are generous and Josie with Kamil Stoch in the saddle are taking the lead" :clap:

Team qualifiers are now also confirmed for dressage and eventing.

https://inside.fei.org/system/files/Tokyo 2020 - Qualification System - EVENTING - 7January2020.pdf

There are no changes, however Brazil is now officially confirmed in eventing (there were some doubts), while Luxembourg is interestingly the first team reserve in dressage.

Amazing achievement for our horse riding events. Last years, we had nobody or one horse rider. Now, we will have 5. We qualified jumping team first time after 84 years!!! This success made me decide to buy Equestrian Olympic tickets and go to cheer for these guys in Tokyo!

Which session of equestrian? There’s a possibility we’d bump into each there.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
