I would like to stay positive today and expect atleast 30% of the Indian population who watched a badminton match after so many time or for the first time even will keep track of our shuttlers. Even if that happens it will be a huge boost.

Exactly. The way people cheered Sindhu/Dipa is heartening. Star Sports has been telecasting Super Series events regularly (QF onwards), so viewership is bound to increase. :fingers:

Did any one have idea what would have been the result in case of Sakshi match ended in tie 5-5?

I felt that sakshi is winner in case of tie as she scored the last points but commentator was saying some thing else

My initial assessment was that even without those last second points, she would have been winner. In case of tie, the wrestler with the highest scoring move wins. In that match, both had 2-2-1 points, so another tie. In which case, last point wins, i.e. Sakshi. I am assuming that commentator assumed that Kyrgyz wrestler had scored 4+1 instead of 2+2+1 as her 2+2 came in succesion, one move of 2 leading to another move of 2. But, it was still 2+2 and not 4. But, there is one thing that is bothering me why would Kyrgyz wrestler challenge. Even if she won challenge, it would have ended 5-5 and Sakshi would have won the match. So, there is a good chance, I am missing something and commentator was right.

Thanks for clarification...In the initial bout I was wondering how Shakshi has won when it was a tie, but only opponent scored the last point. now it's clear.

Am also wondering what was that.... I want to be sure abt these rules for yogeswar match to avoid tension... my view was sakshi was winner even with 5-5 score but even then sakshi was desperate to score points in last seconds

Is there any criteria how the draw is made in boxing and wrestling?

These are the two events i felt that where there was a chance of two top players meeting each other in initial rounds

Top players meet each other in initial rounds in these two events as there are very low number of seeded entries. In Wrestling, IIRC the finalists from the last World Championships were given top 2 seeds and rest all were placed randomly. Even this an improvement as in London, there was no seeds and you could have repeat of WC final in first round itself. There are demands for more seeds and UWW has been trying to popularise its rankings but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.

For Boxing, I am not sure if any seeding was used. Also, how would they compare boxers from different formats (amateurs vs ABP vs WSB).

    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
    • It's complete American domination in the women's discus rankings so far this year, they occupy the top 4 slots, and the WORST result of those four was achieved at Ramona .Third place currently belongs to Ciera Jackson who had a huge almost 4 METER pr at the west coast relays on friday-64.42[previous best was 60.77 from march of 2023,and she opened her season a week ago with at that time her second best result ever of 60.14]she also had a 63.66 throw to back this new pb up,and finally with her new personal best she took down the school record that stood for 36 YEARS[Btw Valerie Allman actually competed in Ramona on march 30th but conditions were apparently far from ideal and she fouled four times and her best was a 63.61,i don't doubt that in the event that she competes in the  world intational, the conditions will be perfect,i wouldn't be so bold as to say she wouldl get the world record but for sure i think she could get a new personal best.
