As per my understanding egyptian javelin throw champion Ihab abdelrehman who qualified for RIO found his dope test positive ... is there a chance for Neeraj to sneak in,...

1) I think Ihab's B sample is yet to be tested. At present, we don't even know if he will be banned or not.

2) According to Road to Rio website, 38 athletes (including Ihab, excluding Russians) achieved the Olympic standard in Javelin throw against Target number of 32. Neeraj is ranked 5th among the athletes not qualified giving him effective ranking of 43. So, for him to qualify atleast 11 athletes above him have to test positive or decline the quota.

3) Even then, it is possible that IAAF will not invite anyone new, citing deadline for team nominations is over.

Thanks for the information... i guess we now need divine intervention to see Neeraj in RIO

Right...for now we cant accuse sushil Kumar...who knws maybe Narsingh succumbed to the pressure of expectations.....Because he's replacing 2 time Olympic medalist, ppl expect nothing short of a medal......Can be a lot of pressure

What pressure his roommate was having. Why did he dope. Why will he dope in a ordinary event to be caught before the Olympics. If he had doped for Olympics then I could say succumb to pressure, What is the use in doping in a ordinary grand prix.

I would'nt go that far to state its a sabotage....concrete details are a lil shady....how it happened, who ate what....without these details we cant speculate....I still believe Sushil is not behind it.....he's a sportsperson......he couldn't get it...that ends it.....

Prashanth, Its already clear that its a sabotage. That doesn't mean Sushil can be named directly. This probably be an activity of a disturbed well-wisher of Sushil such as small time wrestler or a cleaner or cook etc. He also came up and said that he had stopped training already and had no intention for trial after High-court verdict in Narsingh Favour. Now the debate should be based on whether he will be able to go to Rio if the sabotage angle is proved. What are the rules or any exception can be granted to him.

i hope and pray that Narsingh didnt cheat....but 2 samples have tested positive...

It was said a shortwhile back that all food supplements provided by SAI are tested...

It will be a miracle if he's proven clean..

Sportspersons are supposed to be cautious about these things. They have to monitor everything they eat to avoid these things. Still, if sabotage or ignorance is proved, normally doping authorities are a bit lenient. But this leniency is normally in terms of reduced ban, lesser sanctions on training with national teams, etc. But, once you fail a dope test, ban is almost guaranteed. If Narsingh's B sample comes back positive, there is no chance of him going to Rio.

As pointed by others, UWW will allow India to replace Narsingh (if he is banned). I think, considering the bad blood between Narsingh and Sushil/Satpal, it won't be a bad idea to select someone other than Sushil to replace Narsingh.

    • Congrats Diggins, well deserved! 👏   Too bad she fell on the last lap in the last race (as well as Karlsson also did x2).   For the future I would really like them to remove the bonus sprint points suring the race that almost makes more importance to the overall standings than the positions over the finish line. And get back to the same point system as the other FIS events. 30 gets points instead on 50, and 100-80-60... instead of this system. in this case Diggins deserves it and Sweden who of different reasons have missed pets of the season On purpose or not, does not deserve it. But it as it is now it may take 20 wins to catch up for one missed race (if the opponent is 2nd in each). Dahlqvist won the sprint cup without any individual wins (3rd overall) is one example of that.    There must be room to miss a race of any reason. If not, it Will not make people race more events, instead it might make skoters who already missed one weekend feel they are already too far behind so they light as well take less priority on the rest of the World cup season. Also skiiers who in Norway for example would be good enough for a top3 in the overall might not even be selected for many races due to the internal competition. Same for a skiier like Ebba Andersson who most likely would not qualify if she would be selected to go a sprint race. But she would still get a few points probably for rk 31-50, but because she would not make it in to the Swedish sprint team she Will lose a lot even compared to those who fail the sprint qualifications. Frida Karlsson another example, she would also probably have qualified most of the times but is most often not good enough to make the team. With more award to winning and making podiums and also less athletes scoring that would make it better I think. The scoring system in biathlon got some critics when they decided you have to count all races, but they at least increased the value of top positions meaning you could faster catch up a bad race/missed race, by a few podiums.
    • Great to see O’Connor on the podium again! Thats 4 major medals in the past 12 months (World Indoors x 2, Euro Indoors and World Championships).   Her strongest event is the javelin so she is going to continue to be a huge threat in the heptathlon this summer and she is still improving all the other events. Exciting times for her
    • Congrats to Diggins winning the WC in her final season
    • Call me mad, but it feels very strange to have made it all the way through a major championships without hearing how the results were going to lead to a slashing of funding for  sport.
    • Only Fabbri from Italy has disappointed and that's a bit concerning... In 3 of the last 4 major events (OG and 2x Indoor World Champ), he's performed significantly worse than he did on the entire season – he took bronze at the 2025 World Championships, but his result was also nothing special. His performance today is completely incomprehensible  (
