Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were more liberals than socialists. It was simply that life was good then, the economy was booming and there was relative peace. Besides, Russia and China were weak.

Except this 1996 act was probably the longest-lasting social effect of Clinton's tenure and helped to drop poverty until the immigration rise became a political topic again. After all let's don't pretend immigration to USA never happened until 2010s.

Elissa Slotkin winning the Michigan senate seat is definitively something that will confound some naratives.

Hard to imagine that the Muslim and Pro Palestinian protest vote had that much of a real impact if Harris lost Michigan while a Jewish and very pro-Israel Democrat won the open senate seat in the state with the highest Muslim population nation.

I see you are not very familiar with American politics and how they work, otherwise you would know why a non-consecutive second term is much more historic, than a regular incumbent being reelected.

The think about you writing about is rarer but that doesn't mean that you can belittle, for example, Obama, who won twice in a row. What was he supposed to do at that time? Deliberately lose in 2012 so he could run in 2016? He couldn't have run more than twice. In Trump's case, it's more the downfall of the USA itself: first of all, the lack of credible and capable leaders at a younger age. After all, what happened in 2020 in elections was a parody: two old guys (one with dementia, the other clown with numerous court judgments). Then you wonder why Putin and the leader from China aren't afraid of the USA, since they have such incompetent people as opponents. It hurts me a lot because in the 90s I admired the USA and Clinton was a role model od modern leader in Europe and now? Looking at their elections and their leaders I just smile bitterly.

In the 90s the left wing parties still represented the working class. It's no longer the case 30 years later and that working class started to vote for right wing.

thats true. If anyone observes the US election map then he can see that Harris dominated in NorthEast states and the Eastern Coast, exactly where the big economic centres are based (New York, New Jersey, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco etc).

Also what i observe regarding politics in western europe is that Socialdemocratic/centre-left parties have become extremely pro-market and even neo-liberal and some traditional right parties have become euroscepticist and protectionist, exactly the opposite as it was in 70s-80s

Its so funny and amusing to read hate comments from "democrats" on web.

Celebrities especially.

Just read some stupidity from Cara Delevingne. Of course, typical lingo - fascists and so on. Without a single decent sentence.

Hillarious.

Vast majority of Americans will disagree with you. That's all that counts.

I dont see many differences in so called fascism between democrats and republicans. Both were bombing any country they picked, both were ruining systems they wanted to.

I prefer reds more because they are at least honest about it.

Also, i dont like what this ultraliberalism brought to our whole Earth.

Whoever opposes this level of insanity will have my vote.

He's a businessman and the world simply doesn't remember what the world looks like when USA adopts isolationism. Trump will get involved if only he can make a profit. And his #1 geopolitical enemy is China. Not Russia, North Korea or Iran but China. Modern society especially in Europe simply doesn't understand that becuse nobody is old enough to remember the Monroe Doctrine which predates fascism by a full century. I don't think even in USA they call James Monroe a fascist :p

The Democrats have only themselves to blame for the outcome. However, just to think what were two candidates for a president of the most powerful country is just laughable. The meltdown of European countries on these results is quite a popcorn moment though, love to see it, especially the German one.

Also, someone said RIP Ukraine, RIP Palestinians - like Palestinians were doing so well over the past year while Democrats were still in charge, so now is gonna be even worse? Yeah, Trump might not be as generous in helping Ukraine though.

    • 55th place for  Duda in today's U23 sprint qualifying. That's 11 points for Brazil in the ranking, alright, but more importantly for us: 11 points that @brunamouracan definitely make up in Trondheim.   Make up, you say? Yeah, here is the double situation: we want Brazil to get in the top-30 and have a second ticket, obviously, since it increases everyone's chance, including Bruna's. However, if Brazil has two tickets, the federation has decided that the first one will go to whoever gets the most points for the nations ranking. Duda is the only junior/U23 athlete who is in the fight for the Olympics, and therefore she obviously has a massive advantage simply because of her age - she can start in the U23 world championships, after all. She'll have the sprint, interval and mass start races to score points, plus the mixed relay.   That is quite a big points haul that is hard to overtake, considering she will of course also compete in Trondheim. The good thing about Trondheim is that, at least according to the federation's own rules, Duda is out of the team sprint, and so Bruna can make up quite a bit of points there. Finish way ahead of her in the sprint and the 10k as well, and the Schilpario points can be made up.   In other words, mixed feelings: we need Duda to do well in Schilpario, because of Brazil getting in the top-30, but we also need her not to do that well, or else a potential second ticket will simply be hers by virtue of being young enough to compete in the U23 world championships.   By the way, if Brazil ends up with 1 ticket, it will depend entirely on their internal rankings, which Bruna is leading with a large margin at the moment.
    • It's OCA, why we should be surprised
    • Besides the incredible sport result by finishing 4th at the World Championship,  national team managed to do the unthinkable: to gather portuguese people's attention to a sport other than football, so much that the semi final against Denmark was the most viewed tv show of the day in Portugal.   In fact, to be able to make the Prime Minister and the President of the country to go to the bronze medal match of a sport that is not football truly reveals how this guys made this event popular in our country.   Yesterday they landed back in  and this was the reception:             Yes of course this looks like a joke next to Croatia celebrations, but you need to understand this is a 100% football-only country so having someone besides the players families waiting for them in the airport is already big enough for , so this one was really nice
    • Isn't Argentina literally always there?     I'm only missing Belgium this time
    • I had totally missed it, but Tereza Nova suffered a bad crash in training for the Garmisch downhill a bit over a week ago, and was kept in a coma. Can't find anything more recent, not sure that's a good sign or not...
    • Start lists for the mixed team are out. Argentina and Ukraine will compete today, a nice surprise, at last for me.   Here the bracket:   vs vs vs   vs vs vs
    • Yeah that's even worse. The sports should be confirmed at least like 6-7 years before the Olympics and the actual program really should be confirmed before the preceding Olympics. I know they don't, but they really should.
