[OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

And of course, right when this is being a hot topic, the first thing I see on another forum (right under a Formula 1 thread :p ) is this:

https://en.radiofarda.com/a/three-women-sentenced-to-55-years-for-defying-compulsory-hijab-in-iran/30088712.html

Now, I don't know this website, I don't know much about this country and these laws and everything, so for the 16897th time I'd like to ask @MHSN a question about Iran :p As I said, I have no idea about this website and whether it's 'normal' or 'right wing' or something, so: is there some sort of nuance to all this they are missing, either on purpose or because they don't know?

Of course but it's a local problem nonetherless. I can't see islam getting tolerant with LGBT anytime soon, it can only get worse but it's truly not my problem.

As for the other stuff, wow, a religion founded in 2017? The protestants are getting more divided by the minute :p They are protesting the protestantism itself now or what?

Ok, wrong one then

I have no idea about the gazillion different branches of Christianity or whichever religion, I just know the one I mean is really strict (at least for 'average' people). I know, because I live in one of the towns where they form the highest percentage of the population.

There are no gazzilion branches of Christianity, there are three of them, Roman Catholicism (50%), Eastern Orthodox (12%) & Protestantism (36%). It's the protestants that have split into gazzilion branches like Mormons, lutherans, baptists, episcopalian, Church of England, Jehovah Witnesses and God knows what else. It seems like there is a new protestant church appearing every year as they've spun themselves out of bounds long, long time ago. Martin Luther must be very proud of this

Gazillion groups with tiny differences between them who all call themselves Christian but with a different name in between it. Whatever you wanna call it, I don't care much for the terminology, I just know the group I meant is very strict and it's not the one you mentioned.

Being as I took 14 years on this. I will tell you that the Roman Catholic Church recognizes 7 types of Christianity. Mormons are not considered a Christian Church by any Christian churches. You also forgot about Coptic Christians and Yazidis who are technically not, not Christian. There is also Greek Orthodox which is separate from normal Eastern Orthodox.

Well, I'm not a Protestant so I have no idea why they're aguing over those tiny differences since like forever and feel the need to invent a new church every other year. I bet nobody has heard about your group either :p Catholicism & Eastern Orthodox have been staying put for a very long time though so they don't deserve to be dismissed for pure terminology even by the most strict atheists

Our Dutch friend seems not to care much about terminology so I spared him the details. The head of the Coptic Church does take part in the conclave though so technically he rides the Christian boat :p I'm not an atheist so I know the differences you mentioned but again, for heywoodu it's all black magic voodooo most likely.

Outside the Netherlands that's probably true. Within the Netherlands they are big enough for their political party to steadily get around 2% of the votes. They got 2% last time, they got 2,5% half a century ago and they got 2,5% a hundred years ago, it's maybe going down with 0,02% per election :p

Balážová ended first non-qualified and Kukuľková 4th under the line... Still can not believe we failed to qualify at least one female to the Games, despite our womens team was still in qualifying position one year before Paris as 2022 WCh quarterfinalists ...   All this Olympic qualification really sucked... especially for us
