Saeid Mohammadpour finally received his gold medal from 2012 London Olympics officially today in Ashgabat after 6 years ! he originally finished 5th but top 4 all tested positive for doping :d I assume this is kind of a record to be upgraded from 5th place to gold medal.

this is a picture of him on the "podium"

Wait, he was in the Olympics as a 19-year old and since then had no international competition ever again? :yikes:

it seems Mohammadpour wasn't the only weightlifter receiving his medal in Ashgabat, Gulnoi (THA, 2012) and Ulanov (KAZ, 2016) also received their medals.

interesting that they only awarded the gold medal in that weight where all 3 medalists are disqualified now. no silver and bronze ? :mumble:

:d in Top 7 yes, but the South Korean 8th placer (upgraded to 2nd) also has a clean record. maybe he wasn't just there. it's not necessary to attend a ceremony to receive your medal. they can just send it to your home.

and as I asked before, no idea if Zielinksi really receives anything. :mumble:

funny that Ilya Ilyin himself was there in Ashgabat when they were awarding "his medal" to someone else :d

European youth champion, :BUL Dayana Dimitrova, receives a life ban from competing in international weightlifting after her second doping offense since April 2017.

The Bulgarian weightlifting federation said that the 18-year-old Bulgarian had used a banned diuretic while training privately. Her coach said she had used the drug to lose weight before the competition in Poland.

Well that was a long international weightlifting career for Dimitrova. :p

    • I'm not surprised. Colturi seems to be trending in the right direction (duh) and the rest of the Italian women's team is nowhere except veterans Brignone and Goggia. The Delagos have regressed badly for whatever reason and even Bassino has kinda stalled despite still being in her prime. The shit will soon hit the fan but it's probably to late before the next OG. It would be ridiculous if Albania wins more medals in alpine skiing than Italy
    • The regular season is over. Tennesse Titans get #1 overall pick for the 2025 draft after NE Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills back-ups on the last day.   Mike Evans (Buccaneers) ended his 11th season with 11th mark of 1,000 receiving yards which ties Jerry Rice's all-time record. Bucs needed to run one more play to get him 5 yards he needed instead of kneeling down a game they had won already.   Wild Card Schedule:   My picks: Chargers, Ravens, Bills, Eagles, Commanders, Vikings

    • Few observations from the Globes.   Nikki Glaser had a nice opening monologue, but everything afterwards was bad. Plus i don't know what the make-up people did to her face, but i thought i was watching a wax figure.. But she changed 10 dresses showing us more of her cleavage, so that was a plus i guess.    This was probably not only the worst Globes, but probably one of the worst major award ceremonies in structure and writing... Everything was so awful... - None of the presenter skits worked and many were just cringe; - The weird camera angles, that widened around the presenters completely showed the audience not giving any fucks about what they were saying and some hiding their facepalms even. I was specifically watching in the background, since in these award shows we only get the camera in the presenters face against the screen, so this was new, but i was astonished how little the people were paying attention.    - Not showing barely any clips, or even images from the movies / series (sadly this has become a modern tradition to "save time") - The idiotic showing of the nominees. Not only without images from their performances, but them in a small picture on the side, while the screen was a damn Google Map with an arrow on their placement. Like WHO CARES where they sit in the room, show the person on the full screen... Morons.   About the winners:   - Like pretty much all winners on the movie side, with the exception of Emilia Perez, which i don't like at all and don't think it deserves awards.. - Especially happy for The Brutalist and Fernanda Torres;   - Anora was being hyped so much. Watched it, absolutely hated the first half, picked up greatly in the second, but in the end an above average film 7/10 for me. Not getting anything yesterday was a bit surprising if you'd followed the race, but not saying i'm sorry for it. Madison did a great performance, but her stocks are falling for an Oscars win and she will probably settle for only the Nom.   - Ariana Grande does a nice job in fooling people, that she is a good singer (which she is not) and now that she is a good actress (which she is not). Someone is getting screwed if she gets an Oscars Nom..   - Pissed that they didn't have the DeMille and Burnett awards on the main show, because of "time", but we now have the nonsense Box Office and Stand-Up comedy awards.. Everyone would have preferred a tribute to Davis and Ted Danson with a recap of their careers, rather than 30 minutes of useless stuff.   On the TV side it was pretty much as expected. Stoked for Colin Farrell's win.

    • The Colturi case affair is becoming increasingly loud in the Italian media. Yesterday commentators on the Italian public channel Rai began to openly say that they hope Lara will return to Italy and also criticize the terrible form of the Italian team in the women's slalom. I`m very happy about this, because the louder this affair is, the greater the pressure will be on the Italian federation to come to an agreement with the Colturi team (pressure from CONI, the ministry and maybe even higher).
