The IAAF will not want a Namibia medal in the 200m. Semenya and the rest have been controversial enough and coming the day after the weightlifting it could lol get very toxic and bitter.,

We will be hearing a lot more about it if no Americans make the final.

It be interesting how the USA media handle it - there a lot of supporters of Semenya in America.

I genuinely don't understand what this commentator is thinking and why Eurosport has so many commentators (in English, specifically) who clearly don't watch their sport outside of the Olympics..the Dutch one is excellent and I assume it's not the only language with a capable commentator.

These are two of ES's regular English athletics commentators.

Oh, so they are purposefully trying to give the impression they don't really know what's going on. Right, might even be worse.

True.

I have to reset the urge to tell someone I know defending them on Twitter to piss off because I would get into trouble.

Well, time for conspiracy theories - with their parent company having just shelled out bazillions for exclusive rights they're not going to want their employees indulging in wild, unfounded speculation, are they?

But it's not wild, unfounded speculation to at the very least get excited about one of the most insane times ever run (combined with the way she ran it, braking hard). If anything, staying so calm as if it was a morning heat where she won in 22.60 is what makes them sound suspicious, like they were actively trying to ignore it.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
