I'm trying to predict the draw. based on WT rules the host athletes will get the 4th seed. and non-seeded athletes will be drawn. and I assume they will treat EOR athletes like the rest, giving them a seed based on their ranking

so here is the "possible" men's 58kg draw

:KOR Jang (1) vs :PHI Barbosa (16)

:ESP Vicente (8) vs :POR Braganca (9)

:JPN Suzuki (4) vs :ETH Demse (13)

:RUS Artamonov (5) vs :TUN Jendoubi (12)

---

:ITA Dell'Aquila (2) vs :HUN Salim (15)

:AUS Khalil (7) vs :THA Sawekwiharee (10)

:IRI Hadipour (3) vs :COL Ochoa (14)

:IRL Wooley (6) vs :ARG Guzman (11)

==============================

and men's 68kg

*** the last time I checked the WR Mirhashem Hosseini moved up 2 places after winning the G2 event in Beirut. but surprisingly they erased that result . I don't know if this is just a mistake or for whatever reason they don't consider Beirut Open results?!

I will make this draw based on the current ranking which may not be correct. but if it's just a mistake Hosseini will be 6th, Achab 7th and Pontes 8th. no other change.

there are two athletes from UZB and MLI without a ranking point (because they changed their weight late) since we have a so called "refugee" in the list which makes it 17, UZB and MLI most probably have to fight first and the winner enters the main round.

:KOR Lee (1) vs :UZB Rashitov or :MLI Fofana (both unranked)

:IRI Hosseini (8) vs :TPE Huang (9)

:JPN Suzuki (4) vs :BIH Husic (13)

:ESP Perez (5) vs :EGY Wael (12)

---

:GBR Sinden (2) vs :NZL Burns (15)

:BRA Pontes (7) vs :TUR Recber (10)

:CHN Zhao (3) vs :IOC Sediqi (14)

:BEL Achab (6) vs :DOM Pie (11)

I wanted to make the same draw for all 8 weights but then after what I saw at 68kg ranking, I'm not sure if we can "trust" it.

I checked other results and it seems they counted Beirut Open ranking points for everybody but Hosseini !

here in the results section, they show the Kazakhstani guy who lost to Hosseini in the SF (and not the final) as the gold medalist which makes me believe this is just a mistake.

I'm going to continue with the current ranking but keep in mind we can't fully trust it.

now I know what happened here, this draw is final, no mistake here. Mirhashem Hosseini won the Beirut Open but since he wasn't allowed to participate they removed those 20pts from him.

he got knocked out during the Asian Championship against a Korean athlete. and apparently there is a rule in WT that if you lose like that you HAVE to rest for one month (we have a similar rule in boxing) and Beirut Open was only 2-3 days after the Asian Champ.

as simple as that Hosseini got himself the worst possible draw. I can't believe how unlucky we are in this Olympics and it's not even started yet

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
