IIHF already allowed :ITA to do that in 2006, then it was our idiotic National Federation's officials givin'up that possibility

I hope this time they are not so blind, since it's obvious that we don't have any local market and/or any local kid to protect and any movement to develop (no kids practicing, no infrastructure, no money)

it's the same with Baseball in the WBC, when we play with a team made mainly of pro players that have never played in Italy (some of them, they've not even been here once in their life)

p.s. I think the request to be "soft" with that rule came directly by the IOC in order so sell a few more tickets

got a passport? then, you're in :pope:

p.p.s however, what about those who already played for :CAN / :USA in recent times? will they be able to choose? will they be "instigated" to play for :ITA? will they be available only to their "original" team and a no-no for :ITA:mumble:

I'm really curious to see how this thing develops in the next 14 months?

Pretty sure, they´ll allow it. Same as for KOR 2018 and CHN 2022. IOC need it, and they will make sure it will happen. I never was in doubt, one day such news will come. It was only a matter of time :d

Michael Del Zotto? Though it looks like he's in the AHL now...

Surely they'll find a few boys with more famous names whose grandma had one of her parents somewhere in Italy :d
