Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022 - Day by Day as it could have happened

 Share

Recommended Posts

I want to try a new thread. I wonder how many of you will be interested to join it.

I bet these games will happen in 2022 no-matter-what, in any (health or political) circumstances.

China and NBC will not allow to postpone/cancel it.

But we can still have fun with some predicts.

Day -2 Wed 02/02/2022

Curling Mixed Doubles Round Robin MD 1 only :-(

Day -1 Thu 03/02/2022

Ice Hockey W Preliminary Round - is there a detailed gameplane already? I guess not. Because qualis haven't finihed yet.

Day 0 Fri 04/02/2022

Opening Ceremony in the Bird's Nest - I think it will be awesome. Beijing 2008 opening is one of my favourites (great begin of the ceremony with the drummers - absolutely wonderful thing to me)

Day 1 Sat 05/02/2022

First medals:

SPEED SKATING - W 3000m

SHORT TRACK - Mixed Gender Relay

SKI JUMPING - W Individual NH

CROSS-COUNTRY - W 7.5km + 7.5km Skiathlon

BIATHLON - Mixed Relay

FREESTYLE SKIING - M Moguls

No ideas yet, I need 2 hours to think and make some google searching ;-)

But I will try to make predicts here not only incuding factors like: previous achievements / age / NOC COVID problems / today's form etc.

I WILL DEFINITELY INCLUDE A VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR WHICH IS: WHETHER I LIKE SOMEBODY THE MOST ;-) WHETHER I CHEER SOMEBODY ON, WHETHER I AM A FAN. This last factor will be sth like 25% of my predicts results. 25% - am I a fan or not, 75% - all the rest factors mentioned before.

I will do it this way because.......

.... this is just for fun, isn't it?

I would like to come to day 16 before the first winter sports 2021 world champs start.

After 2021 world champs are over, I will try to re-think my early predicts.

Have a good Sunday, everyone,

Stay healthy!

Depends on Tokyo 2020. If that doesn't happen Beijing will surely be postponed especially when even test events have been cancelled this year in Beijing. Scientists have told the vaccine may not be effective to the  African strain so it depends.Either 2 Olympics or 0 Olympics.

Oh wow, I'm not thinking about the Peking Games at all. First Tokio (or not).

But in the Women's 3000 meter there's one clear favourite for me: Martina Sablikova from Czech Republic. For the Dutch Antoinette de Jong is the best we have. Reigning 3000 meter Olympic Champion Carlijn Achtereekte didn't even qualify for this year's World Championships and former 3000 meter Olympic champion Ireen Wüst decided not to skate this distance anymore.

Tips: Martina Sablikova :CZE , Antoinette de Jong :NED , Isabel Weidemann :CAN , Natalia Voronina :RUS and of course Miho Takagi :JPN . Takagi could win medals on 5 distances (500, 1000, 1500, 3000, team pursuit).

Shorttrack mixed gender relay: :NED should have a promising team with Suzanne Schulting as our big star. But favourites are :CHN and South Korea.
