my "serious" picks...

England to win the title

FRA, GER, ESP and (shouldn't GBR take part into the Olympic tournament) BEL to qualify to the Tokyo Games...

my hopes (well beyond any chance to become true)...

Italy winning it all...

AUT, BEL and SRB to fill the remaining Olympic spots...

the teams I'd really like NOT to see in Tokyo...

FRA, GER, ESP and GBR (if they are entitled to participate, which frankly at the moment I don't remember if it's possible or not)...

No, ENG/GBR can't qualify.

And we also know the seeded teams for the draw:

Poisition 1 in Group A: Italy (hosts)
Pot 1: Germany, England

Pot 2: Spain, Denmark, France
Pot 3: Serbia, Croatia, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Romania

i think GBR will accept only for women if they qualify

I'm sure we will see :ITA vs :FRA in the pool. So I really hope :ENG may win its pool, so we can have a second chance to qualify to Tokyo. However, if I could choose, I would prefer the women's team to qualify rather than the male team. In that case, I would just be sad for Kean, he really deserves more than sitting on the bench at Juventus.  This guy is the only chance Italy has to qualify for Tokyo.

How is this working? I see there are 3 groups with 4 teams, but only 3 pots?

From Uefa.com

How does the draw work?

  • The draw starts with the teams in Pot 1.
  • The first team drawn takes position B1 and the second team drawn position C1.
  • The draw continues with the teams in Pot 3.
  • The first team drawn is assigned to Group A. In order to determine the position of the drawn team within Group A, a ball is drawn from Pot A. A second ball is drawn from Pot 3 and assigned to Group B. Once again, to determine the position of the team within Group B, a ball is drawn from Pot B. The same procedure is repeated for Group C consecutively until all balls from Pot 3 have been drawn and the teams positioned in each group.
  • The draw will be completed with the teams in Pot 2 using the same procedure as for Pot 3.

So, we can actually be drawn with any team (just like any other team that is in pot 3)? Why they just didn't make 4 pots? :dunno:

Yes, you are right.

To answer your question. UEFA likes complicated systems, just look at Nations League.

A truly fitting venue to host TISC 2024.
