Another Judo Grand Slam event started today, in Taskhent, this time Japan and Korea shows up and already dominated whole competition...

 Serbian women's also were surprisingly good, two bronze in -48, fifth place in -52 and one bronze -57!

 

Also decent result from  Perenc, 7th place is good for her  I hope that other our judokas will follow such results here and in other events to secure at least 5 quotas to Olympics.

Tomorrow another Grand Slam will start, this time in Tbilisi, but without French team which was forced to withdraw due to positive covid-19 test among members of the team

Nice to see Chinese judokas there, first time since pandemic stopped everything and already one women, Yang Junxia on -63kg made the final where she lost to Canadian Beauchemin-Pinard.

The best judokas quickly moved from Tbilisi to Antalya for another Grand Slam, but due to covid we don't have here German team, among French team we have just men's judokas and Japan is represented by just 5 athletes.

 

Opportunity of gain more points to Olympic ranking was used by women's from  and  who finished in top3 on three light weights.

believe it or not, today's gold medal match in the women's -48kg between Milani and Giorda was the first ever all-Italian affair in the history of the IJF Grand Slam...

and with today's Gold, Francesca Milani almost completed a miracolous comeback in the OQR and basically fixed her Olympic spot with only 3 tournaments left (even if 1 of those tournaments is the world championship, with many, many points up for grabs)...

 

tomorrow the men's -73kg is the main focus for our team, with Fabio Basile (Olympic Champion in Rio, but in the -66kg) desperately looking for a big score to save his ass and earn a spot for the Tokyo Games (he's very much on the edge)...

and he has a tough competition also inside the team, with Giovanni Esposito only a few points behind him in the OQR (the man who ends up on top between those 2 would eventually go to Tokyo)...

tomorrow they both have quite favourable draw and could fight each other in the SFs...it would surely be a match to follow...

It looks like it, and not just her. I checked the draw yesterday and we had two female judokas at this event. Now we don't have any. If the Hungarian Judo Federation says anything on this matter, I will inform you here.
