And as if that's not enough, we also have a separate mixed team competition.

With all these team events, diving has more team competitions (7) than individual competitions (6). This should be banned by the laws of common sense.

I don't think calling every doubles event a team event is entirely fair  

 

If they would both dive individually and the points of the man and woman are added together, that would be a real team event. Synchronized diving is a whole different ball game
