Weightlifting EWF European Championships 2017

Recommended Posts

First competition: women's 48kg and I already know literally none of them :p (apparently they were all good juniors and three of the eight were of course already banned for doping).

Erdogan might be going for a medal, cool headline :d

IWF announced this months ago but I think it doesn't hurt to remind everybody that bodyweight is no longer the tie breaker !

this is kind of a big change, as far as I remember bodyweight was always the tie breaker in this sport. I think they should not write the bodyweight in results book anymore when it doesn't matter.

One of our best chances for a medal is tonight in the 62. Vladimir Urumov will have a very tough competition against the turks and Khalibekov.

Oh right, I remember now. How does that make anything more fair?

It probably makes the difference in +105 and +90. :p

Due to big differences, heavier athletes were always in disadvantage. Now it's the same luck for everyone.

more simple probably for the fans to understand

bodyweight used to have much more importance before 2005, at that time you could not increase the weight less than 2.5kg , which was a big deal when these athletes reach their max at lifting weights, when they make 1kg, you could simply lift 1kg higher than your opponent if you were heavier.
