and we lost, as expected, but very nice heroic performance of our kids, to lost only 2-4 to Russia in the semifinal, it was really close, but unfortunately 2 goals during 1 minute in the second period after 2 huge mistakes in our defensive zone cost us a possible huge upset.....

now we´ll have to try our best and move our asses to beat tomorrow France in this bronze medal match, if we want to medal in this EYOF..Gonna be a hard task though, The youngs french looks really well prepared and disxiplned, they lost to Belarus only 1-2 in todays semifinal.

btw the matches of the tournament are played with pucks from :SVK:d

Spoiler

4th EYOF day, It was a extremely cold day, the temperatures was around -28°C, Croatia, Netherlands and Lithuania won their first medals, also Belarus secured at least silver thanks their hockey team. Czech Republic earned their 3rd medal a silver this time :yes

Slovakia still remains in hope of medal, our ice hockey team was close of the finals today battled very hard against the Russian Giants and lost only 2-4. So tomorrow we will face France in the bronze medal game.

Another our todays results is worth to mention quarterfinals of Zuzana Šefčíková in cross country skiing sprint, she was even very close to advance for the semifinals but misse the lucky loser position by 0.19 s. Lucia Michaličková was 31st (1st not qualified for the QF), among mens Dominik Číž 39th and Kristian Klouda 44th both failed in the qualifications.

Also our short track girls failed in the 500m event too early, Sandra Trusová was penalised in the heats and Ema Zelinská eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Bad day also in alpine skiing both our boys wasn´t classified in the slalom, Miroslav Jaroščák DNF 1 and Denis Mažgút DSQ 2.

at least here todays pics from our alpine skiing todays participation

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
