dcro 10,210 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #201 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Oh, and I forgot to point out that Jung had a toy pony tied to his back during his round. Not the most aerodynamic thing, but for a good cause. mrv86 1 #banbestmen
dcro 10,210 Posted May 7, 2017 Author #202 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Ingrid Klimke's leading round from yesterday. Can she become the first woman to win Badminton since 2007? mrv86 1 #banbestmen
dcro 10,210 Posted May 7, 2017 Author #203 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Jonty finishes with a nice clear round. Would have been a historic result without that mishap yesterday. #banbestmen
dcro 10,210 Posted May 7, 2017 Author #204 Share Posted May 7, 2017 First session of jumping ends, with Jonty Evans as the leader. Top 20 to go at 14:45 British time. #banbestmen
dcro 10,210 Posted May 7, 2017 Author #205 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Fence down for Jung. It's Klimke vs Nicholson now. #banbestmen
dcro 10,210 Posted May 7, 2017 Author #206 Share Posted May 7, 2017 (edited) Victory for Nicholson! Nobody saw that one coming! Amazing, just amazing. Finally his first Badminton victory after 36 completions. In 2015 he almost finished in a wheelchair. Nobody deserved this victory more. So happy for him. Klimke had a complete heartbreak though. Dropped to 9th place, ouch. Edited May 7, 2017 by dcro #banbestmen
dcro 10,210 Posted May 7, 2017 Author #207 Share Posted May 7, 2017 Seriously, who wrote the script? Yes, he was right behind the leading two after XC, but his horse Nereo was quite clearly considered to be the worst jumper of the three. Besides, Nicholson hasn't been the luckiest man in history. At the 1992 Olympics New Zealand was leading team competition by such a long way that Nicholson could get 7 fences down and still bring them gold. He dropped 9 fences on that occasion. This will definitely take some beating in my "sports moment of the year" category. #banbestmen

dcro 10,210 Posted May 18, 2017 Author #209 Share Posted May 18, 2017 Second stage of Dressage Nations Cup will be held in Compiegne this weekend. Teams from will participate. Today there was an opening 3* class, where Anna Zibrandtsen & Arlando showed some good potential. Denmark is really climbing up the ranks this year. If all goes well, they should be very serious contenders for team medal at this year's Europeans. That hasn't been the case for a while now. #banbestmen
