Well, there is an expansion planned. Hoppefully, it will go according to plans

That would be some iconic stadium right here, albeit still small for a world championship (30K)

The stadium looks cool.   And I did hear about it. But I really don't think this city is capable of hosting such event.  But marathon will be gorgeous.   It's just a beautiful city and area of the country

Libor Charfreitag the only Slovak European athletics champion (since the independence) officially ended his career today. He won also bronze at world championships in Osaka 2007, but the highlight of his career was the continental gold in Barcelona 2010 and this unforgettable medal ceremony when they started to play the Lightnings over the Tatras for the first ever time at a major outdoor athletics event at same time real lightnings and huge storm started around the Olympic stadium in Barcelona

Some sad news.

Hurricane Irma has claimed the life of Xavier Samuels, the coach of Kyron McMaster.

Jamaican triple jumper Jordan Scott (21 years old, 6th at last year's world juniors) was killed in a 'motor vehicle accident' :(

Michael Campbell (ran the heats in the 4x100 at last month's world champs) got away with minor injuries.

In the old forum, we had a thread called "sports and tragedy"  (something like that), maybe it'll be better to revive it ?

    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
