Welp, mass start is their best chance for qualification (as long as they stay in one group for 99% of the race).

And judging by the picture on Taufatofua's instagram, it looks like they all have one mission. Making sure that everyone qualifies.

And interestingly enough, when I went to his Instagram and saw that last picture, I immediately recognized Brazil's rollerski circuit bibs and, indeed, Brazilian federation CBDN is apparently organizing this :p

Spoiler

Now I'm sort of feeling the urge to ask around and try and get Taufatofua's autograph from there, that'd be cool :p

Is it still possible for him? Jordan wasn’t on the accredited countries list?

I am sure the IOC won't block his participation if he qualifies, after all Jordan didn't even have a FIS NF until recently.

Also for the 2017 Asian Winter Games Jordan only registered way after the deadline (approx.2 weeks before the games started) and the OC allowed both of them to compete. :d

Update on qualification situation:

83 nations have officially qualified at least one athlete. I have not included either :AZE or :CAY  as neither have any eligible athletes. :PRK has also not registered their figure skating pairs meaning they have 0 athletes qualified as well.

These nations will likely qualify (or will) by the end of the qualification period:

:IND India (men's luge)

:NGR Nigeria (women's bobsleigh and skeleton)

:TGA Tonga (cross country skiing, thanks to "Project Bogota").

:MDA Moldova (alpine skiing, cross country skiing, men's luge)

:TPE Chinese Taipei (speed skating, 3 athletes)

:PHI Philippines (alpine skiing, their athlete will start later this month to qualify and has the level).

These nations have some work to do to qualify:

:ALG Algeria (Men's snowboard slopestyle, just got his top 30 performance today)

:VEN Venezuela (alpine skiing)

:PAR Paraguay (alpine skiing, same athlete competed in 2014, but different sport)

:HKG Hong Kong (they have a couple of alpine skiiers who need more results under 140 points to qualify, but their level is all over the place).

:GHA Ghana (men's skeleton, with the new system from the IBSF he is just outside qualification).

:ISV Virgin Islands (women's skeleton).

These nations have athletes competing, but unlikely to qualify.

:BAR Barados (Freestyle slopestyle)

:SRI Sri Lanka (Cross country skiing)

:JOR Jordan (alpine skiing)

:NEP Nepal (cross- country skiing, their athlete is around the 400 point level and doesn't look like that will change).

:TTO Trinidad and Tobago (cross- country skiing, their athlete is around the 400 point level and doesn't look like that will change).

Unknown and unlikely:

:DOM Dominican Republic (recently the FIS uploaded a bio on an alpine skier)

:TJK Tajikistan (their alpine skiers have not competed this year and unlikely to qualify).

:AFG Afghanistan (their alpine skiers have not competed this year and unlikely to qualify)

Will not qualify as their athletes compete in sports that have finished qualification:

:INA Indonesia

My guess is the 83 nations (minus Puerto Rico who will decline) + first set of nations above + Venezuela, Paraguay and Hong Kong will qualify. Meaning 91 nations will compete in PyeongChang. However, that amount can go higher...

India in men's skeleton? Isn't cross-country/alpine skiing their only chance? Oh, wait. I guess that stands for luge, not skeleton.

Moldova is a near lock in men's luge.

It might be 90 as Russia will be probably banned.

Oh, and the Philippines should get a reallocation in men's figure skating, as Sweden will likely reject their quota.

I don't think the IOC will ban Russia. They don;t have the guts to do it

---

Also :TTO skier will start next weekend to get below 300.
