Additional information

To be eligible to compete in the Olympic Tennis Event at Rio 2016, all athletes must be in good standing with their National Association and the International Tennis Federation.

In addition, athletes must meet the minimum requirements regarding participation in Davis Cup and Fed Cup. Players are required to be part of a final nominated Davis Cup or Fed Cup team on a minimum of three occasions in the four-year Olympic cycle.

However, for those nations competing in the Zone Group round-robin format for at least three years of the four-year cycle the minimum nomination requirement is two occasions, as it is for players who have represented their nation 20 or more times. All players must be nominated at least once in 2015/16.

Note: Davis Cup participation was not considered. But it is known for sure that Kevin Anderson and Ivo Karlovic for instance, haven't played Davis Cup since 2011 and 2012 respectively. Therefore, they are not eligible.

Well, drama and matches will be shorter in Rio. There will be played tie-break in every set (if needed) so the matches like Federer-Del Potro in London will be past :(

Men's singles final remains best of five match. Thirdset in mixed doubles will be played as match tie break.

    • Regarding the swimming they have added the 800m for men and the 1500m for women so cutting numbers would be odd.
    • That quota I’ve been told by an athlete aiming to qualify who I know online.
    • Has the quota for Canada been offically confirmed anyway, or is that just a rumour? I can't find anything on google about it (nor the suggested quota for England's athletes someone posted earlier).   12 per gender would make sense (it's roughly what Canada sent to Birmingham). 12 overall seems dumb.
    • Some sports have qualification systems   3x3 basketball (wheelchair) Para-cycling Powerlifting Weightlifting
    • In the past few games, Canada (and other nations) was given an overall athlete quota which they then divided it through the various sports.
    • Whose decision was this, Team Canada's or the Organising committes?
    • I’ve been told there are no straight finals planned for the swimming.
    • I’m suprsied the games is still that big!
