It's ridiculous and shameful for the sport that this kind of a result is possible when supposedly two of the Top5 teams are playing. IOC shouldn't have expanded the tournament to 10 teams, there is no sign of improvement, and I say this as someone whose country would benefit from another increase because Hungary would likely be here in a 12 teams tournament. Even women's water polo is doing much, much better.

To be honest it's just the gap between Canada/United States and the rest of the world. Like I wouldn't expect Switzerland/Finland/Russia to pull off this result against Germany or Hungary.

First big surprise and big upset of the Games. Did not see that coming. Congrats :JPN

This isn't an upset at all. :JPN has been consistently better than :SWE over the entire quad. Japan has the capacity to beat any team in group B, and only :CZE is clearly better than them.

:USA Brianna Decker is out for the remainder of the Olympics due to the injury she sustained against :FIN. The US (foolishly tbh) didn't bring a taxi squad, but they are looking at options for replacing Decker.

    • Record crowds for this weekend, according to the British Comms so well done  les bouffe-grenouilles!
    • Suspect strongly that the Sultan of  is behind Global Wushu!     Another one is long distance & ultra triathlon.  There are literally millions being paid out in prize money to attract big name athletes from several sports, huge FTA TV coverage but seemingly no prospect of any profit.   And the classic is obstacle racing, which has effectively bought up the ownership of Modern Pentathlon.
    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
