Athletics WA World Relays 2026

Recommended Posts

Impressed at how well Australia did across the board. Definitely feel like we are going from strength to strength on the track and are probably in the best spot we have been for quite some time.

On another note, the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant as well. Nice to see the mens 4x400m get it done for the crowd.

48.34 secs last leg split from Sharlene Mawdsley :yikes:

She was born to anchor a relay! She never stands out in the individual event but when it comes to the relay she turns on beast mode

Stories emerging that on Day 1, the track was wrongly marked.  Specifically the start marks for Lane 3 on the 4x400m meant that runners were running short distance.  Don't know what is going to be done, but presumably WA must stand by the results, although any records set will be scrubbed.

well, those splits were actually suspect

now we know they weren't reliable at all

What about Day 2 though? Were the markings correct that day? Because I am still blown away by Mawdsley’s 48.34 :d

I am guessing though it was mainly only affecting the first leg runners?

that specific problem was fixed, but many people questioned the whole recording system of the splits in all races

probably we will never know if they were 100% correct, however some efforts were outstanding

for instance, it was clearly visible that Mawdsley was in great shape and a lot faster than her opponents

so, it might be that it wasn't truly a 48.3, but still she outran her rivals by miles, that's what really counts in such kind of meet

    • Imoco's squad is getting older, and it will be increasingly difficult to win the Champions League, while other Italian clubs don't have much money. In a next year, Turkey will have three super-strong clubs in the Champions League and Italy will only have Imoco, which has retained its core squad, but it's getting older: Wołosz, de Gennaro and Zhu won't be better than before. I fear this was Italy's last chance for Champions League win for many years.
