I'm actually pretty bummed we don't have a luge relay team. Not because I think we'd win a medal (though, who knows, look at the World Championships!) but it's really fun to watch. I mean, I'll watch it anyway, but it'd be nice to have a horse in the race, too.

Same, I think the luge relay is the best sliding sport event and it's a bummer :CAN isn't in it this year.

Luge seems like its in a rebuilding period - which hopefully will pay off further down the line. We kinda had the same few athletes competing year over year for a few cycles and when they all retired we were back to nothing. I feel like they are doing the smart thing by building the program and pipeline is smart for the future.

Oh I fully agree. The only thing that worries me for luge is the lack of a track in Calgary. But the Whistler track is absolutely paying dividents in athlete development.

CBC sorting the medal table based off of total medals and not total golds :lol:image.png

They've always done this. Same with the USA. It just doesn't always look so pathetic.

Is there anything that we can point to as a positive today? Is it too early to panic about the medals or are we at a crisis point now?

The men's hockey team looks pretty good.

Alison Mackie finished eighth(!) in the women's 10km time trial. This one is big, she could be a big star in 2034-2038 (she could still be years away from her prime).

As pissed off as I am about the result, Kingsbury performed really well today and it bodes well for duals. Especially with him being a little bit angry.

And likewise, despite how hearthbreaking the silver was, Grondin did amazing today. Three Olympic medals in snowboardcross at 24 is insane, Hämmerle had zero at that age.

Having the medal table sorted that way is pathetic either way, even if we had a bunch of golds but barely any medals :p

I would add Homan's performance as well.

And TBH the silver's sting but they are still athletes that did great in their events today.

And if you need anything else there has been no 4th place finishes for Canadians at this Olympics....
