What I find so frustrating is that I don't even know what :CAN (Curling Canada here, not this specific team) could have done better. They had the trials early, sent them to worlds, gave them plenty of time to prepare, and it's hard to imagine a pairing for Canada that is, on paper, much better.

So is this a problem with how this team prepared, just bad luck? Unsure what lessons Curling Canada can take from this.

Gallant simply played horribly. I don't remember the last shot he really made completely. Honestly don't even think they were outplayed by their opponents as much as they just didn't make the shots they had to make. Obviously they were playing against good teams, but particularly Gallant just never got them into the game, and Peterman always had to bail them out at the end. But most of the time bail out = limit the damage, i.e. in the 7th end today.

Canada was never dominant in mixed curling anyway, and they could have lost anyway. But they absolutely did it to themselves for the most part, particularly against Estonia and Sweden.

On another note, is it weird that they don't have a start list for the Ladies Big Air qualification yet? It starts in 2.5 hours.

They *finally* published it.

Looking at the schedule for what is ahead, looking like at this point Canada's first realistic gold medal chance (as in, double digit chance, of course something weird could happen in, say, women's ski slopestyle or snowboard big air) is the short track mixed relay on Tuesday. Honestly might be our only "big" gold medal chance until Thursday.

Yup, was hoping for a chance at a curling medal on Monday, but alas...

Tbf, Thursday could be a big day for Canada. Just crazy seeing that Norway already has 6 medals, Italy with 7. Canada always gets more in the back half, though. I feel like the early schedule is even slower for Canada this year than in past years. Probably because moguls was moved, and short track starts later.

The games are already frustrating. Sigh at this rate ill stop watching as soon as I am home.

I get that, but also the schedule for the first few days for Canada s really frustrating. Feels like we're kinda on pace for where we are "supposed" to be.
