Event 75 – Men’s Pole Vault (LA 2028)

🥇 Gold – Armand Duplantis (SWE)

  • Projected height: ~6.30 m (World & Olympic Record range)

  • Why:

    • Already the dominant vaulter before 2025, and still winning Worlds in 2025.

    • At 28, he’s in the sweet spot for speed, strength, and timing.

    • Even a small improvement in approach speed + pole stiffness can add a few cm at this level.

    • Hard to rationally pick anyone else over him in 2028 if he’s healthy.

🥈 Silver – Emmanouil Karalis (GRE)

  • Projected height: ~5.98–6.00 m (National Record territory)

  • Why:

    • 2025 world silver puts him clearly in the “best of the rest” group.

    • Natural progression from mid-20s to 28 should add a few centimetres.

    • Technically efficient, good runway speed — exactly the profile of a 6.00 m guy in peak years.

🥉 Bronze – Kurtis Marschall (AUS)

  • Projected height: ~5.92–5.95 m (Oceania Record territory)

  • Why:

    • 2025 world bronze and a history of steady improvements.

    • At 30 he’s still in prime vault age; jumps in the high-5.8x to mid-5.9x range are plausible and medal-worthy.

    • It’s easy to see him as the “solid championship guy” who hits 5.90+ when it counts.

76. LA 2028 Podium Projection – Men’s Long Jump

Here’s the projected podium with marks and rationale:

Medal Athlete Nation Projected Mark Rationale
🥇 Gold Mattia Furlani (ITA) Italy 🇮🇹 8.50 m (Olympic Record) At 23, still improving; with 8.39 in 2025 as baseline, and given ideal conditions + home-Games energy (for Europe/West), he could jump into 8.50 range.
🥈 Silver Shi Yuhao (CHN) China 🇨🇳 8.45 m At 28, in his physical prime; likely to improve technique and consistency; 8.45 is realistic medal mark.
🥉 Bronze Tajay Gayle (JAM) Jamaica 🇯🇲 8.40 m Veteran status, big-meet performer; may not improve much beyond 8.34 baseline, but remains strong for podium.

Early thoughts after 76 events completed.

It is fun but it is nothing good at all, still better than GRACENOTE heh.

The main problem is ChatGPT is not using 2025 world championships / world cup results or 2025 top lists (swimming, athletics). Looks like their knowledge usually ends at mid-2024 and then it's all about predictions, even predicts on sth which happened already on real (like some of 2025 wch). That's disappointing. One has to teach it all the time to look after 2025 results...

Chat GPT predicted Bronze for GBR in 800m. But who is Ben Pattie, anyone??? Is it a real athlete?

let’s assume they think there will be a Bronze for team GB due to a newcomer, a new unexpected talent, no-name. Sb like Patryk Dobek in Tokyo 2021

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
