Being on that list means he has a clearance to appear at the opening ceremony. The selection criteria reads in the last point: "The participation at the Opening Ceremony is voluntary and does not always fit into the training and competition schedule of the athletes. Therefore it needs a confirmation by the athletes and the federation for a shortlist nomination." -
Pretty sure Drai will not be at the opening cereminy. NHLers will land in Milano 8th february only -
Germany's shortlist: Women: Ramona Hofmeister (Snowboarding) Laura Nolte (Bobsleigh) Katharina Schmid (Ski Jumping) Men: Leon Draisaitl (Ice hockey) Johannes Rydzek (Nordic combined) Tobias Wendl (Luge) The public can now vote for their favourite until Sunday, Feb 1 at midnight and those results will count 50% to the overall decision. Biathlon: Baiba Bendika, Darcie Morton, Anna Weidel, Anika Kozica Cross-country skiing: Obviously Bruna Moura , Ariuntungalag Enkhbayar, Samaneh Beyrami, Delia Reit, Gina del Rio, Nahiara Diaz en Agustina Groetzner, Rosie Fordham, Stevenson Savart, Sara Ponya, Jenny Axisa Eriksen, Regina Martinez, Rakan Alireza, Sophia Velicer, Karen Chanloung Speed skating: Merel Conijn, Femke Kok, Vladimir Semirunniy, Timothy Loubineaud Surely plenty of others also in speed skating but biathlon and cross-country skiing were the easy ones to do off the top of my head so for now that's that -
As is understandable, in her case. Home Olympics (nearly literally in her backyard), it would be nothing but a letdown to do some regular non-special World Cups after that high.

In terms of non-Canadian athletes, off the top of my head, Alpine Skiing: Zrinka Ljutic, Lara Colturi, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, Eduard Hallberg Biathlon: Suvi Minkkinen, Campbell Wright, the Italian team, the Czech team Bobsleigh: Anyone that isn't from Germany Cross-Country Skiing: Anyone that isn't from Norway Freestyle Skiing: Kelly Sildaru Ice Hockey: Finland, Latvia, anyone playing against the US Nordic Combined: Ilkka Herola, Kristjan Ilves Luge: The Latvian team Short Track: Roberts Kruzbergs, the Desmet siblings, Furkan Akar Skeleton: Nicole Rocha Silveira Ski Jumping: Ryoyu Kobayashi, if I wasn't Canadian I would probably also be cheering for Strate Snowboarding: Zoi Sadowski Synnott, the Bulgarian team Speed Skating: Metodej Jilek, Chen Ying-chu, the Polish team, the Kazakh team
