Apparently, the IOC has accepted Italy's request to have four (FOUR!!) different flag bearers. What a circus.

We have the italian names :cheer:

  • Federica Brignone (Alpine skiing, Cortina)
  • Amos Mosaner (curling, Cortina)
  • Arianna Fontana (short track, Milano)
  • Federico Pellegrino (cross country, Milano)

As long as Italy doesnt repeat Paris travesty, I will be satisfied.

Don't count on anything too amazing, since there won't be one single opening ceremony, but 4-5 that TV will kind of combine into one thing :p

There's not going to be a singular event where all/most athletes of a nation are going to be presented in some way. Everyone stays on their own 'island', these are kind of the Olympics of disconnection.

As long as Italy shows us its beautiful culture and history (or whatever they plan) with decency and style - they can split ceremonies in multiple parts.

I loved Athens, Beijing and London, Sochi was also decent.

The plan is to have 4 different marching locations (one for each cluster). Presumably they will show the stadium entrance, and cut to the tv feed with 4 cameras, show the other 3 locations.

Nope, only 2 clusters: Milan and Cortina

They have split up the Cortina cluster into three different locations for the ceremony

@hckošice Who do you expect to be our flagbearers?

hopefully not Huliak :p

In serious note. Depend which hockey players will be there at the opening ceremony already, I guess NHLers not yet, so someone from europe, Tatar or Hrivík if you ask me to bet a penny. Vlhová would be awesome if she will make it.

If really 4 flag bearers will be ordered than Kuzmina I guess with Ninis in Cortina

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
