You made the semifinals while Mosaner has been off his game all week long, there’s a lot to be proud of. And there’s still a chance at bronze! :yes

I think you're a bit too harsh on Mosaner, especially when it's Constantini that missed the most decisive shots (I don't really know why she always refuses to hit hard even when it's an obvious choice...it lloks that she's scared to let that fuckin' stone go)

however, the real problem all week long has been the tactical plan, they often got themselves in trouble playing the book without being able to look for different shots to limit the damage when it was clear that they were losing the end

and they had too many troubles to score points when they had the hammer, always because of their tactics

Maybe I am, and I'm saying this having not watched most of their games ofc, but in the few games I watched of them, Mosaner was definitely weaker of the two. Most of the replies from the Italians on here were when Mosaner made terrible shots and not Constantini, but maybe that's because Mosaner is a better curler and is held to higher standards?  :d

I agree with you here, shot selection for Constantini has been very questionable, she can make those hits and yet she always makes it more difficult on herself by not doing that.

The thing is, Mosaner is the more talented of the duo, although he certainly didn’t show it this week.

I heard an Italian journalist say that Constantini has played with different partners in the past and she never made it past the round robin stage in international tournaments.

I watched mostlt all of them. The first few matches Mosaner was really nervous and made some serious mistakes, maybe working with this kind of guy is unpleasant. She was more focus. Maybe she is avarage with others but this chemistry was weak during this tournament.

I agree with most of it, but I don't think Mosaner is unpleasant to play with, unlike say... Bottcher :p

I think it's a combination of things. A clash of different personalities for one, the lack of agreement on shot making decisions and frustration with line calls tells a lot :d

most likely, yes

If there hadn't been an agreement, they wouldn't have won Olympic gold in 2022 and World Championship gold in 2025. The atmosphere in Italian curling was very bad from the beginning – a last-minute cut of a player from the team who was a close friend of Constantini's, etc. Then came the cancellations, the polemics, etc. Who needs it? It should have been left as is, because it was clear that only the mixed doubles had a real chance of winning the medal. Whether the women's team finishes 8th or 10th is irrelevant. Another case is that Constantini might have been unable to handle the pressure of competing in her hometown – that's what I feared + all the previous arguments and this is the result. I don't know who will be more motivated to win bronze tomorrow, but the Italians will have big problem with mobilizing. It's a shame they couldn't get in top form for the main event at home, but unfortunately, this is Italy :(

According to a Eurosport journalist familiar with the curling world, Amos was forced by the technical staff to participate in the mixed doubles. As is well known in Italy, relations between Mosaner and Costantini have always been terrible on a personal level.

Whats the background on this?

    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
    • I didn't buy any tickets, but didn't get the e-mail.   We bought tickets on my wife's account (earlier timeslot), but not 12, and she got the e-mail.

    • I am very curious.  We got extremely lucky in the first ticket drop, both my and my wife's emails were selected for relatively early time slots-- early enough that we bought our full allotment of tickets for good stuff.  Not swimming or gymnastics of course, but we were really pleased,  d   But today I received an email on one of those accounts saying that we were entered into the second drop because we hadn't used up our 12 ticket allotment.  I went back and counted-- twice-- and yes, we certainly did purchase 12 tickets on that account.      I am not sure I want any more!  Did this happen to anybody else?
