and it's Gold!!! :cheer: :champion:

Alice Bellandi is the new judo legend in :ITA

she's the first player (men included) to win at least an Olympic and a World title

Bellandi got 2 shido for nothing and the German attacked maybe once in 6 minutes of extra time... If the Italian woman were in her place, she would have had a 3rd penalty long time ago. We can't have it that we are constantly being wronged and the federation is doing nothing about it.

well, it was true only for the first couple of minutes

in the GS period, Bellandi was dead and gone and once or twice her Olympic Champion's status got her out of troubles, too

if there's a match where we can't complain, that's the one ;)

so, the individual championship is over

:JPN once again dominated the field with 6 gold medals, double the score of the second team, which is the returning powerhouse :RUS (even if hidden behind the IJF/:AIN Flag)

:ITA returned to the glory of 1991, the last time we won 2 gold medals in a single championship, but outside the surprising Kenny Bedel and the 2 world champions, it was a very disappointing tournament for our team (as expected, tbh), with way too many losses in the early rounds and very few people reaching the "final block" (aka, the top 7)

in total, 20 Nations won at least one medal (6 of them, at least 1 gold medal); Africa and Oceania are the only Continents not represented in the final medal table, even if the Aussies got very close thanks to the 5th place by Aoife Coughlan

this is the Final Medal Table (Tomorrow's Team Event isn't included)

There are too many Italian defeats in the matches for 3rd places. Counting Paris 2024, this is probably the 7th or 8th defeat in a row of this type. And that makes a big difference at the end (better to have 2 bronzes than 7/8x 5 places which mean almost nothing at the end). We have 2 golds here, but overall the Germans have made more progress recently and have a better squad: more medals, more points and today a much better performance in the team. Unfortunately, in Italy, the regression in the men's category is worrying: Lombardo and Parlati again without individual medals, no one else showed up except for 1 young guy. Either way, we are left with nothing among the men.

The men's team is very weak, apart from one surprise. Even if we reach the final block, we almost always lose and take 5th place (this is a negative trend present since Paris 2024). There are too few new strong people coming in. It`s similar among the women, because the only young one - Scutto - appeared in the previous cycle. Compared to the depth of the squad of Germany, for example, we are very weak not to mention France or Georgia. This is very worrying for the future, because something seems to have blocked in our training.
