His rise since he arrived at the top last year has been fantastic, but this was extra impressive :d

And with Ayuso not being so great yet, who knows what he can do if he doesn't need to sacrifice himself too much..

A bit of chaos today after a late crash and many of the favourites lost time, but not Del Toro. Things have gotten very interesting before Monte Grappa tomorrow. Shame that Tiberi lost so much unnecessary time though.

Ayuso lost quite some time as well, so now we're getting to the point that they might seriously consider letting Ayuso work for Del Toro if need be....

Too bad Monte Grappa is in the middle of the stage, this whole Giro kind of feels like we haven't really entered the mountains yet and we've already had 14 stages....

Perfect for Del Toro so far, he has been very...how to say that, 'sharp' so far!

Roglic losing time once again. I wouldn't say he is out of contention, because he usually does miracles in the final weeks, but it's surprising he is underperforming in a race without Pogacar or Vingegaard.

I have a feeling UAE really wants to win with Ayuso, but Del Toro is in such a fantastic form, that they can't hold him back. He looked the best out of everyone today. Let's see if they will let him attack on Tuesday or stay with Ayuso to help him for second.

I have a feeling that his age is finally got the better of him.

Age can be funny like that, especially in cycling - you chunder along for years and years, well into your mid or even late  30's...and then bang, the legs and lungs just go and you're peddling squares all day. Not sure Roglic is QUITE at that point, but he looks very below where he was even 12 months ago. You can beat time for so long, but when you start losing, you can get spat out the back very quickly...

He's 36, if i can remember.

You are right, no doubt, but in these years of his stamina is decreasing, lung capacity and so on...

He can still be very competitive but i believe his prime has passed.

Fairytale looks like it's come to an end today, but still a very honourable chance at the Best Young Rider.

Ayuso should be able to go up against Roglic. Others not so much.

Yeahh.. this aged like milk. Ayuso in horrible form due to whatever and Roglic being classic Roglic again literally falling out of contention.

    • A bit of a mixed session for  GB.   The Women's Team Pursuit blew up in the final and were lucky to avoid the overlap. Worth saying the GB were the only medalist that didn't make use of their substitute rider - probably not surprising given the substitute was Lauren Bell. Still a second-tier team was good enough to take a silver.   The Men's Team Pursuit had a nightmare day. Having crashed in the first qualifying run, they did enough on the rerun to get to the 1st round where they did step up and qualify for the bronze medal match. They kept it close against China for the first half before fading pretty badly to finish 4th.   I was a bit surprised that the Women's Team Sprint were beaten by China. They were leading by 0.2 seconds after Bell and Finucane had completed their laps but it looked like Parris-Smith was just way too far back.   The standout was the Men's Team Sprint. I thought they were going to have to settle for the silver but somehow managed to pull it out of the bag in the final lap.        I definitely picked the wrong section of the crowd though - caught between two competing locals. One vocally anti-China, accusing them of cheating and booing every time they were on the track. At one point he was singing God Save the King and Rule Britannia. In the end he was asked to leave.    Biggest cheer of the night was for  Lee Sze Wing's silver in the elimination race.
