I listened Roglic's interview for slovenian TV, he just couldnt keep it up.

Expected decision to retire from the race.

Yeah, after three falls that stage of he'll yesterday was just too much (especially with another fall). Understandable.

Fairytale looks like it's come to an end today, but still a very honourable chance at the Best Young Rider.

Del Toro disagrees, bouncing back from yesterday's tough battle with a very impressive ride and stage win today :d

Del Toro seems to have trouble on the longer climbs, so i'm definitely not sold on his victory, regardless how cool of a story it would be. Carapaz closed to gap to 40 seconds and Friday & Saturday stages are of his specialty, so i'd say he is the favorite. Would be an unfortunate end for UAE, which at one point had 4 riders in the top 6 or something.

Carapaz has definitely been the most stable rider so far, only one that didn't really show any sign of weakness at all yet, indeed. Del Toro's ride yesterday certainly gave me some more hope for him, but I'd agree and put Carapaz ahead of him as the favourite for now.

No matter if he makes it or not...Del Toro in the top-10 might not have been that much of a surprise considering the past one and a half year, still being in pink with only two serious stages to go is the other end of what I'd expected, very impressive no matter what happens :d

Off we go - Carapaz of course!  Del Toro covers quickly.

Prudhomme going for the win, has a minute & just the descent to do, so looks good.  Yates losing time.

Prudhomme gets his win, Del Toro gets the second place bonus & Carapaz consolidates in second overall.

Carapaz with a strong attack on the mighty Finestre, the last big climb of the Giro this year, with still almost 15k to go to the top - only Del Toro able to follow, but Yates managed to jump to them as well.

    • A bit of a mixed session for  GB.   The Women's Team Pursuit blew up in the final and were lucky to avoid the overlap. Worth saying the GB were the only medalist that didn't make use of their substitute rider - probably not surprising given the substitute was Lauren Bell. Still a second-tier team was good enough to take a silver.   The Men's Team Pursuit had a nightmare day. Having crashed in the first qualifying run, they did enough on the rerun to get to the 1st round where they did step up and qualify for the bronze medal match. They kept it close against China for the first half before fading pretty badly to finish 4th.   I was a bit surprised that the Women's Team Sprint were beaten by China. They were leading by 0.2 seconds after Bell and Finucane had completed their laps but it looked like Parris-Smith was just way too far back.   The standout was the Men's Team Sprint. I thought they were going to have to settle for the silver but somehow managed to pull it out of the bag in the final lap.        I definitely picked the wrong section of the crowd though - caught between two competing locals. One vocally anti-China, accusing them of cheating and booing every time they were on the track. At one point he was singing God Save the King and Rule Britannia. In the end he was asked to leave.    Biggest cheer of the night was for  Lee Sze Wing's silver in the elimination race.
