Anyone here like volleyball?

Sometimes, but in terms of results I'd certainly say let's keep that to the volleyball thread and leave non-athletics results out of the athletics thread :p

By the way, Kate O'Connor really did something amazing yesterday: she scored 6714 points, which was not just a 227 point PB, but arguably more impressively, it was 35 points more than the combined score of all of her (pre-Tokyo) single event PB's

In the decathlon nobody is staying anywhere near that feat, only Ferranti might, if he has an amazing finish, stay within 100 points or so. Sandrina Sprengel was the only one in the heptathlon who stayed within 100 points (barely), nobody got anywhere near it, just to reiterate how incredible O'Connor's tournament has been.

Not yet, Owens-Delerme is of course still in it. If he makes 5.00m, he would be a very big threat for gold.

And he makes it! :hyper:

The fight for gold is on for real now!

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
