I love the Dutch women's team. They've made the race super tough, and as expected, they're the ones getting in trouble

Tactical geniuses. And once a few teammates are almost closing back in, Vollering attacks again :d

And they've let all the big names get back on.....

Hoping all this rain is falling as snow in the mountains btw.  :water:

Haha, Markus in a bit of trouble, and instead of waiting for Markus (who would be very useful on the flat last part) Vollering pulls harder and drops her. Then pulls again and drops Vos as well, who is the main sprinter in the team.

Now Vollering is alone against strong sprinters like Roseman-Gannon and Lippert

Oh how I hope for a 4th place for Vollering.

Massive win indeed, a 80+ kilometer solo in the world championships, damn :d (I mean, Sivakov jumped with him to try and help him of course, but couldn't do anything but sit in his wheel until he got dropped :d)

What did Dutch press make out of it? It was one of the worst "teamworks" I have ever seen in cycling.

Rather negative :d

Both towards Vollering and towards the coach, who has been making a mess of this for years now (like Tokyo). Vollering literally said "it was not good for me that Markus and Vos were still in the front towards the end"

One of the most well-known journalists (albeit a bit of a drama queen, but in this case, he's right): "Absurdly bad race by Vollering. Unbelievable."

An entire analysis titled "Vollering only thought of herself and threw away and almost certain Dutch medal":

https://www.wielerflits.nl/nieuws/demi-vollering-dacht-alleen-aan-zichzelf-en-verspeelt-vrijwel-zekere-wk-medaille-voor-nederland/

Vollering: "They were all riding just to make me lose" :d

https://www.gelderlander.nl/video/productie/vollering-mij-laten-verliezen-wk-zurich-772648?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F

The 100th time Vollering shows she should simply not be in a team like this. It is always trouble, every single time. We need a team with like 6 Marianne Vos clones, she has the experience, she can read a race like absolutely nobody else in the world can and she plays her role, whether that's the team captain or working for someone else, without complaining and to the fullest extent.

Vollering is the exact opposite of Vos. Vollering rides for Team Vollering, which consists of Demi Vollering. No matter what.

    • A bit of a mixed session for  GB.   The Women's Team Pursuit blew up in the final and were lucky to avoid the overlap. Worth saying the GB were the only medalist that didn't make use of their substitute rider - probably not surprising given the substitute was Lauren Bell. Still a second-tier team was good enough to take a silver.   The Men's Team Pursuit had a nightmare day. Having crashed in the first qualifying run, they did enough on the rerun to get to the 1st round where they did step up and qualify for the bronze medal match. They kept it close against China for the first half before fading pretty badly to finish 4th.   I was a bit surprised that the Women's Team Sprint were beaten by China. They were leading by 0.2 seconds after Bell and Finucane had completed their laps but it looked like Parris-Smith was just way too far back.   The standout was the Men's Team Sprint. I thought they were going to have to settle for the silver but somehow managed to pull it out of the bag in the final lap.        I definitely picked the wrong section of the crowd though - caught between two competing locals. One vocally anti-China, accusing them of cheating and booing every time they were on the track. At one point he was singing God Save the King and Rule Britannia. In the end he was asked to leave.    Biggest cheer of the night was for  Lee Sze Wing's silver in the elimination race.
